IÃÆÃââââ¬à ¡ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâôm confused as to where exactly Torres fits into our 4-3-3 system. Would he play wide right in AnelkaÃÆÃââââ¬à ¡ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâôs position or in the middle in DrogbaÃÆÃââââ¬à ¡ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâôs position ? Torres seems best as a lone striker so is this the end for Drogba at Chelsea ?
Simple - we will have to ditch the 433. It will be a 442. Only problem is players like Ramires, Mikel and McCeahran may struggle to get game time with only 2 centre-mids. Although we could go diamond but that's very risky. ---Essien Ramires Malouda ---Lampard Torres Drogba
Ditching the 4-3-3 would be a big move and could upset the balance. All our successes in recent years came from playing 4-3-3. To change the system just to suit one player canÃÆÃââââ¬à ¡ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâôt be a good thing.
I agree with SuperbFrank. When we have moved away from the 4-3-3 system we have struggled. One could argue this has left us abit one dimensional. The only other formation our players seem to be able to play is is 4-3-2-1 (Xmas tree)
(Note the above) Our formations won't suit Torres. Thus it may be better to buy him in the summer. He could be a direct replacement for Drogba.
AndyWales - so exactly how would you incorporate Malouda, Anelka, Drogba and Torres into a starting 11 if itÃÆÃââââ¬à ¡ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâôs as easy as you make out ?
SuperbFrank - you ditch Anelka. Torres is a younger and better precision forward than Anelka. There's no point asking where everyone will fit in when Torres comes, because that's the point, someone won't. There would be no logical reason to have Anelka and Torres in the same team, and I don't know why everyone is so concerned about changing formation. It worked when our strikers were playing at the top of their game and were faster. It's time that Malouda and Anelka got released as they are getting past it. I agree that you shouldn't change a winning formation, but right now, we aren't winning anything. Bring back 4-4-2 with pace on the wings. Competition in midfield is a good thing.
