    Didn't we draw the home game too that season?

    We seem to have a soft spot for trying to give really **** teams points. We helped keep Sunderland up the last few years after all.

    We did well against them in the return fixture, though, and got a well-earned, hard-fought point.

    To be fair you're scraping the barrel here for a wind up but fair play for showing your face during this humiliating period Sunderland are going through.

    In our defence Sam Allardyce was our manager at the time. If I remember correctly, before the home game he came out and talked about containing Derby. Incredible! I still have a suspicion that he was trying to get sacked that season to get the pay off.
