I thought the same, unnessary, by the numbers remake where you didn't really care what happened or who survived as you knew exactly how the film would pan out.

I did see Finding Dory, my most enjoyable trip to the cinema in a while.

A good sequel with incredible animation and detail. Although not as good as the 1st film the characters were still really fun.

    The Shallows 7/10 (shrugs shoulders)

Into the Deep 9/10 - very very good film. Best shark film I've seen in decades. Really well made, no stupidness, good suspense, a nice twist, keeps you hooked. Well worth watching <ok>

    The Man from UNCLE:

Enjoyable spy romp. Starts out very well and fades slightly as the film goes on. 7/10. Henry Cavill is very good.

    Star Trek Beyond - 5/10

Swap the cast with the Next Generation and you have one of the films from the 90's.

Star Trek can't just be about fighting baddies ffs. They need to go back and look at why Roddenberry created it! Look at the humanity, the moral/ethical dilemmas and the message for humanity to become better that he put into every episode. Clearly Abrahms and this next director have totally missed the point. Think bigger you ****ing arseholes!

    Amy
Documentary about the short life of Amy Winehouse. This film is sobering, showing the terrible consequences of a vulnerable girl trying to deal with serious addiction issues, all under the constant scrutiny of the media. Very sad indeed but Amy herself is shown to be the fantastic artist she was. A staggering talent lost to addiction.

Her dad does not show up well in that documentary. In fact he is a total **** and i only hope he has the intelligence to realise what he did to his daughter and be suitabley ashamed.

    Probably not though.

Every now and again if you see a film of a particular type, we should have a choice between two films of a similar theme or era. Which one is better or the more popular. To start off with...

    Exorcist or Omen?

I just watched Exorcist after about a decade. It's a good film, but it's not as edgy as I remember it. Omen still scares the crap out of me.

I watched The Thing last night, haven't seen it for awhile but after watching Stranger Things I wanted to watch it. Such a great film and so atmospheric, with a great feeling of paranoia running all the way through it.

One of my all time favourite movies. If you fancy seeing a different version watch "The Hateful Eight".
