    ¡¡The answer might surprise you!!

The format makes it interesting as well. Not bigging it up too much, but usually very watchable and a decent standard. A good article too, so thought I´d put it up as a thread...

Interesting, Mex. I've just come back from the Yucatan where few people seem interested in soccer at all. There are one or two very smart baseball stadiums though!

Is this general sport in Britain or football worldwide?

You haven't specified association football, so I'll put forward the case for Aussie Rules...

Average crowds in 2016 were 33,190 - with Adelaide having the highest home average of 47,056 followed by Collingwood (46,188) and Richmond (41,446).

The average crowd for the season is understated due to the AFL policy of having each club play some matches in rural Australia, where the stadium capacities are much, much smaller - such as Manuka Oval in Canberra (13,500), Traeger Park in Alice Springs (10,000), Mararra Oval in Darwin (14,000) and Cazaly's Stadium in Cairns (13,500). I'm not sure how the clubs feel about that though - it must surely hit their income badly.

I was in Adelaide some years ago and went to watch the two Aussie rules teams play each other. The ball spent so much time high in the air we finished up with stiff necks!

It's a wonder more of the players don't end up with BROKEN necks! It's bloody brutal!

The South-East peninsula isn´t renowned for it´s love of football. The team in Cancún is a franchise I believe...

Did you like it over there?

    Think the article means globally...
Think the article just meant football (soccer)i.e. round ball with goal...

Loved it...especially Tulum, Calakmul, Campeche and Merida...and a quiet bit of Caribbean coast at the end!

If you hadn't specified soccer, I would've mentioned Gaelic football which has a round ball and a goal, and there are a large number of the games played at Croke Park, as not only is the All-Ireland Final played there, Dublin use it for home games against some of the larger counties. It has a capacity of 82,300.

I do occasionally watch Eastleigh in the National League. They actually play a good passing game...more skill on show than I was expecting...though success has been harder to come by this season than last.
