I didn't watch and I've not seen it, but I feel confident that players surrounded the ref and spoke to him. £20,000 fine? Especially if they held their hands on their hips... Hooligans.
Really? Mings' intent is entirely debatable, and it seems to fly in the face of 'innocent until proven guilty' to give him a 5-game ban on the basis of what can only be a guess. Ibrahimovic on the other hand quite clearly went for him, no doubt about it, and even had the cheek to claim that Mings jumped into his elbow.
The Mings incident was off the ball which automatically carries a greater penalty than something in the contest of winning the ball. Add to that Ibra didn't challenge his penalty, which I think adds a game anyway (otherwise everyone would appeal surely?)
None of that makes any sense. If it was off the ball and definitely violent conduct then yes I'd agree, but since there's a very good chance it was an unfortunate accident caused by Rooney knocking into him while he was off the ground (you can't change direction in midair can you?) it seems incredibly harsh. Appealling the ban if it's frivolous deserves an extra game or two, but since there's such a massive amount of doubt I just don't get how he can be found guilty at all, never mind adding extra games as if to say the appeal was totally pointless because it's so clear cut.
Because he stamped on Ibra and its fairly clear cut. I'm really not sure why you're desperate to see him cleared of a pretty foul act.
That's a stupid assumption. In fact it's straight up false to say he stamped. He didn't stamp in any way. He landed on him. The stupid assumption is to insist that it was deliberate and clear cut, which you couldn't possibly know. The replays are entirely ambiguous which is why everyone is saying only he will know if he meant it.
I thought Mings was a bit harshly dealt with, but given that he plays for one of our relegation rivals I'm happy to say "**** him".
For what it's worth I think Mings should not only be banned from the game but facing jail term it was a deplorable assault which if he'd connected properly had a very good chance of not only maiming ibrahimovic but possibly killing him. The two incidents are incomparable and a 5 game ban for mings is a complete and utter joke.
I don't think it's debatable, he looks down, see's where Zlatan is and stands on his head. Cut and dry, the appeal was stupid and the penalty fair.
He was looking completely the other way, towards the ball that he was chasing. I mean he could have been deliberately being very clever in hiding it, but it really isn't cut and dry at all. He looks completely focused on the ball.
Glanced down at him before he stood on him, he knew exactly what he was doing... please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
Not sure what the snide "gravity" point was either considering he stamps on Ibra. To say that he "landed" on Ibra is laughable.
Am I missing something? Those two pictures both seem to show exactly what I said. He's looking at the ball which is out wide.
You try and stamp in midair. If you manage it you'll have made an incredible discovery in the field of physics.
What on Earth are you on about. Stamping is all about having your foot in the air and putting it down suddenly. I'd rather see you try and stamp while not having your foot in the air.
