We're talking about Gold & Sullivan's penchant for announcing big signings to sell season tickets, like Van Nistlerooy, Huntelaar, and the world class 20-a-season striker we were buying for 30m+ this season (we got Zaza for 7m loan)

Given the choice, West Ham or Everton, if both go in for him, i think he will choose Everton.
If Everton do not come in for him, I could see West Ham being a viable enough option for him, if he wants to stay in the PL.
Hopefully, West Ham will not pay £30m for him <laugh>

I doubt there's any truth in our involvement past the attempt to sell season tickets.

Suggestions are it will be on a free transfer, so I would imagine if he does got to Everton, which is more likely, then they'll pay him a rather large signing-on fee to partially make up for the loss in wage!

As for West Ham... bunch of jokers who get linked to everyone, seem to treat it like Football Manager, but can never actually attract the top names!

You mean that, hopefully, the taxpayers will not pay £30 million for him

West Ham may be interested in Rooney , but my guess is Rooney will be more interested in Chinese renminbi..... unless West Ham can match the value with the Chinese , which I doubt .

As if Rooney wants to move to Essex and play in the Taxpayer Arena. As said above, this is classic Gold and Sullivan (****ers).

Maybe they've offered 64 year old Tracy as a sweetener?

I can't see him joining West Ham because of his reported wages.

If he doesn't go to Everton he will go to America. Personally if I was an Evertonian I wouldn't want him both for playing and pride reasons.

    I just hope he goes.

... his wages were based on where he was as a player when they were agreed Matth - I suspect that even if he was to get offers from other EPL teams he would have to take a significant wage drop as part of such a move ... the only way he will get anything like his current salary package is from a move to China where they are prepared to pay nad money for average players or the MLS where they may feel there is added value from 'the brand' ... but he wouldn't have anywhere near the 'Beckham' impact on that front.

Indeed team Rooney is a team that nobody with an ounce of sense would want to invest in in this country as the stocks in him hold little or no return.

At the end of the day, like i said, if he wants to keep his salary at the ridiculously high rate United are paying him, he will have to go abroad.
So he will need to weigh up whether he wants to keep earning 250k per week, but move to the US or China, or stay in England and probably earn only 80k per week at a club like West Ham or Everton.
Me personally, if i'd been on 250k per week for the last 4 years, I would have enough money to see me through to retirement, not sure I would want to uproot my family, or god forbid, move away from my family for a couple of years to live elsewhere.
I would accept the 2-3 year contract at Everton/West Ham for 80k per week.
    Thats still an enormous wage,.

If he's prepared to accept 60k pw then I'm sure Spurs would come in for him.

    ?
I dont even think he would get in to the Spurs team as it stands to be honest.
I honestly think if stays in England it will be to go home to the toffees, if they want him.
If he goes to West ham it will only be because Everton decide they dont want him, imo.

Rooney must be worth £100 mill or so by now, ffs.

How much more money do you need?

If you're gonna carry on playing, go where you're happy and valued, and **** the money!.

Exactly, does he really need the money?
Between him and his missus, who I believe has a fairly successful high street fashion line, and magazine column deal etc, they are worth a **** ton.
If he went abroad he would have to go alone, unless his wife gives up her businesses and his children leave School in the UK to go to China......
Not really workable imo. Especially if the money isn't needed.

Plus its not like Rooney couldnt make decent wedge as a coach after he retires.

She could stay at home to look after business and he would have two years to get the granny thing put to rest.
