He cannot realistically expect to keep getting 250k a week at his age, unless, like you say, he goes to China, and he has already said he isn't doing that.
Guy struggles with English, let alone Chinese, plus his wife's fashion business is based here, and he has kids in school. I can understand him not wanting to uproot them to go to China for 2 years, and I can definitely understand him not wanting to live apart from them for the same amount of time.
If he has any brains, he will realise that he is looking at at least a 50% wage cut if he stays in the PL.
