Gentlemen, You may or may not have heard that this morning both Newcastle Utd and West Ham Utd were raided by officers of HMRC to investigate on suspected income tax and national insurance fraud. Several arrests were made and business records, financial records, computers and mobile phones were seized. Apparently 180 officers in England & France are investigating the matter - with the French assisting in the inquiries. 50 alone apparently raided the London Olympic Stadium. Rumors that Harry Redknapp has booked a ticket to the Cayman Islands have been proven untrue. Quite where the 50+ staff working for HMRC on the raid came from is also unknown with it being common knowledge that they only directly employ 3 people and a cat who operates their phones. What do people think of this? Is it a surprise that the clubs raided are owned by businessman like Mike Ashley and Gold & Sullivan? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-39716009
Is it a surprise that the clubs raided are owned by businessman like Mike Ashley and Gold & Sullivan? No!....
HMRC Officer: So you're saying this stadium was a gift from the taxpayer? That you paid nothing for it, and only costs you two bob a year in ground rent? Pull the other one. Gold and Sulivan: Honest guv. We couldn't believe it either, but we've got a contract to prove it.
They do come across as proper bent. That Brady is really unlikable. Would be funny given here snobby Apprentice comments that she came out as dodgy!
The Standard are reporting that Chelsea were requested to provide details of transfer dealings with Marseille and they are complying with that request and that a number of other clubs will be/have been similarly asked for information. The fact that raids have taken place at The Spammers and Newcastle and that arrests have been made looks ominous for those clubs. Similar matters caused the relegation of Swindon Town back in 1990. The only problem with that is it will lead to West Ham paying even less in rent and Ashley paying Sports Direct staff a smaller pittance.
What do we have registered in the Cayman Islands? Your lot might want to join their league, though. Might be more your level.
Nice to see the OP trying to stay in character and by having a dig at the Spam, by the way. Pretty sure that it's Sean Bean that's the Sheffield United fan and not Sharpe, though. Close enough.
Sheffield Utd and West Ham had a massive issue a few years back over the Tevez and Mascherano cheating. Sean Bean's a Blades fan and he lead protests against their relegation, saying that the Spam should've gone down instead. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/south_yorkshire/6747441.stm
Got ya, cheers! Yeah I remember that. Was crazy how they suddenly ended up with two world class players! Only, they didn't own them
And Pardew left Mascherano out of the team, preferring to pick Nigel Reo-Coker. Seriously. Did result in one pretty entertaining game, at least: Nice, neutral commentator screaming "OH NO!" as Stalteri scores the winner!
Perhaps this is the reason why Billic and Benitez haven't signed contracts? Someone tipped them both off!
Seriously, though, how embarrassing is this going to be to Seb Coe, that he gave away a National Treasure to a bunch of crooks?
