Watching the Macclesfield v Oxford FA Cup game on BBC2 - Oxford have just been given a free kick due to a Macclesfield player being offside.

The kick was taken from 3 yards into the Macclesfield half of the pitch ! <doh>

Perhaps we should have centre line technology.

I think the law is if the player runs back from offside (attacking half) and touches ball even if it is in own half then ref is correct.

I'm not disputing the award of the free kick - but the position at which it is played

I understand the law - but the act of being offside must begin inside the opposition half. Even if the ball is 'played' by the offending player well inside his own half - the free kick surely must occur in the opposition half - surely the offside law hasn't changed ? - because then it makes it technically possible to be in an 'offside'position on you own goal line ! - if that was the first point when you touched the ball as you come back from being offside in the opposition half.
