They've both agreed to donate the proceeds of the Community Shield to the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire.

Good move from both clubs. Hector Bellerin has also pledged to donate £50 for every minute he plays in the U-21 championships for Spain. <ok>

It's good but I still can't help thinking things like 50k or whatever is still **** considering he's on about 150k a week.

Yeah it's better than nothing and I applaud that I just think these people can do so much more, his money though, up to him...150k is pocket change too no doubt.

I guess. It's still probably something like your average worker donating around £200 though, so it's a decent contribution. Even better that he's rich so he's contributed more.

Initially thought this thread was going to be @PleaseNotPoll congratulating Arsenal and Chelsea for winning trophies last season, whilst Spurs missed out <whistle>

He did but he announced it which I thought was a bit crass.

Not knocking their fine gesture, but I thought the profits from the Charity/Community Shield always went to charity

I'm sure the clubs receive something too. Maybe they're donating their share eh?

If I remember correctly, the gate receipts and money earned from the match day are donated to Charity.
But the clubs still get TV money for the game being televised etc

  16. Ah, that's a shame, mate.

Up to that point, this thread was all about the generosity of the human spirit.

    Real shame, that.

Yeah but imagine if every premier league player donated 2.5days salary. They would be donating a huge sum.
