It's official http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/20160830/shkodran-mustafi-signs-for-arsenal We are now really strong at CB, with Kos, Mustafi, Mertesacker, Gabriel and Holding. Also with Xhaka, Coquelin and Elneny sitting in front, we should be much tighter at the back this season.
All of a sudden our back five Monreal - Kos - Mustafi - Bellerin + Czech look like one of the best in the league. On paper at least.
I was a bit worried about Gabriel as he was looking like a bit of a liability. But the emergence of Holding and now Mustafi we suddenly look like we have plenty of options
He's a very good signing and just what we needed to strengthen a glaring gap in our team after the injuries to Merts and Gabriel. Also tbh Merts is on his way out and even if Gabriel kicks on (which I hope he might) he should be used as back up for Kos, not to play alongside him. We've now got Holding, Merts and Mustafi (not in that order) to compete next to Kos. We look a lot stronger defensively now (baring injuries of course). We just need to concentrate on stealing the ball high up the pitch and countering quickly by using Sanchez, Theo, Oxo and Perez' pace and Ozil and Santi's guile to really cause damage!
