Obvious though it may seem 3 points tonight is essential to cushion ourselves against landing in the relegation group. The only other fixture of any importance down at our end of the table is Blackburn at home to Derby and a win for Blackburn could put them level on points with us, and that is why maximum points are a must for City. At this time of year it is essential to avoid being in the bottom 3, even if it is on goal difference, but how much brighter life becomes if you avoid being there in the first place. We need to be sitting in a more comfortable place entering our next 3 games and if we can secure 6 points from those fixtures we could be fairly close to staying in the Championship next season.
