Chelsea fans will remember mata not just for his talent, but being a bloody nice bloke. I met him in london once and he was nice enough to take a photo with me. Anyway heres another reason why he's a nice guy https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/aug/04/juan-mata-transform-football-donate-salary
Because Jose thought he was lazy because he never back tracked enough for him. He's playing how he always does and Jose now favours him???
What a great gesture by Juan Mata to donate 1% of his wages to charity, I know it doesn't sound a lot but at least he's making a difference. On the player himself - For me, He has to go down as one of our best signings since Sir Alex Ferguson retired, He's a big game player, look at the goals he's scored for us, For the fee we got paid for him, I thought it was cheap, Considering how much Mesut Ozil went to Arsenal for a couple of months later.
Because he doesn't play the same system here. We've tried explaining this many times to no avail. Juan is a big game player as you CFC fans will know, they're a rare breed so he's worth his weight in gold. Probably more in today's climate actually, he doesn't look like he weighs a lot!
He pays a lot more into other charities but with this one he's trying to get more footballers involved, 1% could add up to a huge amount if a lot more players sign up. I see alot of people moaning on social media saying they should donate half They already do its called income tax
Yeah, & what an even more selfless gesture to make sure the whole world knows about it. Oops, sorry, had a cynicism outburst there. I love it really, when rich famous people make ostentatious displays of their generosity. Let's just hope the tax man is also taking note
No, you're right, I am being a bit mean spirited. Forgive me though, if I don't get too excited when a billionaire footballer talks about contributing 1% of his obscene salary to some undefined worthy cause or other. It's not Mata's fault that football is corrupted by greed or that we live in a world where the gulf between rich and poor is wider than it has ever been. Nor is it down to him that he earns more in a year than a nurse in England could earn in a lifetime, so fair play to him for wanting to do something. A handful of rich people giving to charity is no substitute for getting them all to pay a rair rate of tax though.
I'm not particularly interested in the politics of it to be honest pal. I just think to reach out he has limited options other than to promote what he's personally doing. If they all do it then it'd be great.
