I'm getting a bit restless. Plus, I want to make sure I'm there well before my dad's coach arrives.

Think I'll just head up there soon and start soaking up the atmosphere. Wembley feels as exotic as Milan today for some reason (it's actually a dump most of the time). <laugh>

I'll text you when I get to Wembley. Heading off in a bit, just need to sh*t, shower and shave.

We met Helen - just!! We were about to leave the pub and then all these sirens went off in the distance and someone said, "Sounds like trouble, better hang on as that'll be Helen on her way"*

*well they didn't say that but would have been cool

I arrived at the Central station around 09.00, thinking I would just walk on to the platform ahead of the 09.25.
    How wrong was I.
Joined a queue that, initially, seemed fairly short, only to realise it was considerably longer owing to the 5 or 6 snake turns before actually getting to the entrance.
Caught the 09.55 in the end, which took almost 2 hours to pull into Waterloo.
Felt sorry for people joining at Southampton Parkway, trying to get on with luggage, having just flown in. All seats were already taken, but credit to the organisation at the Central, ensuring the train didn't go out full to the rafters, i.e. they left standing room for the next few stations to fill.

I was sneaky, benefiting from a Free Pass, and route knowledge, I used plan B, after A was thwarted by a SWT cock-up with the Romsey shuttle. I jogged to St Denys, caught the 0940 to Portsmouth and Southsea, hopped on to the Southern train that went to the Harbour, but formed the service to Victoria, changed at East Croydon, on to London Bridge, picked up the Jubilee line tube to Wembley Park, had a seat all of the way. Coming back via Wembley Central, Piccadily line to Paddington, on to the Bristol service to Reading, it was full and standing, time for a meal at Reading, before catching the Cross Country service to Southampton Parkway, which was also over subscribed! Just a bus ride to Swaythling and I was home, if a little wet, by 22:00.
Glad I avoided the SWT crush fest!
