It was odd that Koeman should so blatantly discuss another clubs player, there must be some form of dialogue between everyone already. What do you think? Worth having him back for a couple of seasons? He's still a very good player in my opinion, he's just been overtaken in his position(s) and can't force his way back in.
I think he'd be revitalised by a move back to Goodison tbh, and we'd get a cracking season out of him come August especially with the WC being in 2018. Beyond that, it's obvious he's on the downslope physically and he's not a player I can see playing at the top level at 34/35, so I'd not want us to offer more than 2 years tbh.
I would be most surprised if Everton could afford him. Rooney being Rooney (and Stretford being Stretford) won't let any 'back to the old club' sentiment get in the way of a mega-deal. I am surprised that Koeman came out with that statement - not long ago that would have been considered tantamount to tapping-up the player - so everything does suggest a deal is being discussed behind the scenes, or at the very least, JM has given Rooney permission to speak with potential suitors who are now able to make their case in public.
If he was to come back, we'd pay him handsomely but he wouldn't be getting £250k a week, so if he wants the move that'll be his compromise.
He's never going to get that anywhere other than China so it will come down to that. Money or playing down the road for his hometown club in the most competitive and prestigious league in the world. How much money does he need?
Not long ago I heard talk that Beckham was finalising his targets ahead of a glitzy reveal for his new MLS franchise. There was a suggestion that Rooney was on his wish-list.
Rooney has come a long way from that 1st ... magnificent goal he scored in the Premier . Always enjoyed watching him play , be it streamed or TV , you just never know what kind of magic was about to unfold . Not a big United fan but a big Rooney one . Good luck to him whatever he does .
Didn't see the point in starting a new thread. Just watched a Rooney interview. Despite all the games and goals for United, I have no fan attachment to that fella. Shame really.
Really? Your all time top scorer who has lead your team to every trophy going, 3 back to back titles, a European Cup.....no fan attachment? That is a little odd.
Our all time scorer, who lead us to titles and European Cups, also came from one of our rival clubs....Frank Lampard. And he is a bona fide Chelsea legend!! I'd let him shag my wife! (At least he would ask first, unlike JT)
Is similar to Mark Hughes, anywhere else he would be considered a legend but his off field actions leave a lasting bad taste.
