OK, a lot of this will be based on experience (this is the sort of unscientific poll the like of which makes 'Pulp Fiction' top 100 Greatest Movies on Channel 4 <laugh>), none of us saw Skilly Williams, but the question may be evened out between nostalgic rose-tints and those who've only seen Loach .

So, who is the best Hornet keeper you've even seen?

Went for Tony Coton - loved him - my heart wanted me to go with Pat Jennings and I almost went for David James - difficult choices we have had some good keepers

I went Coton, but would've had Rankin as second choice. And yes, we've had cracking keepers over the years. I always liked Eric Steele too, but couldn't quite find a place for him (if I wanted to include Loach).

Steve Sherwood for me was the best as he was a great survivor and would not have lasted as long as he did it there was not something there. He was understudy to so many but when his chances came he grabbed them. Eric Steele should never have been bought but it only inspired SS to bigger and better things. Also few goalkeepers can have played in an FA Cup final, UEFA cup, all four divisions of English football and scored a goal from his own penalty area!

Defo Tony Coton for me , always dominated his box and shouted at his defense, as a keeper probably one of the best never to get senior international recognition!

I've gone for Coton too.... Wanted to go for Kevin Miller just because of the name, but Coton does just edge it for me. (I never saw anyone pre-Sherwood)

Would have gone for Pat Jennings, but his stay was very short and although good we never got to see the best of him.

Coton for me as well then, but we have been very lucky to have so many good ones.

Wish I had gone for Rankin now - he deserves at least one vote - but they are all incredibly good

Have to go for Alec Chamberlain. I loved him as a kid, and still do.

There are. Over a long period of time. I was quite expecting it to be very pro-Foster, but I'm really pleased the top three have all got votes. I never saw Walker play live but he's good in the game against Liverpool I have on DVD.

I liked Micky Walker - father of course of Ian. I ruled Foster out as he was only on loan so did not choose him - but he was excellent too :)

I voted for Tony Coton. My favourite goalkeeper, though, is different to the best. So is the most memorable, or the most memorable save.

For various reasons I've always liked Steve Sherwood. I think he personified Watford - not the best keeper but one who shows what can be achieved with the right attitude

The best save I ever saw from any goalkeeper was Micky Walker at Oxford United. He made Gordon Banks's save against Brazil look ordinary and then he told his defence what he thought of them for forcing him into making it. Andy Rankin's save against Man Utd was rather special too. Apparently Joe Jordan was yelling "Goal" from the moment the ball left his head to the moment Rankin saved.
