These two met in the reverse fixture back in October when the Hornets travelled over to the Liberty Stadium in Wales in what was Bob Bradley’s first home game in charge at the club. The first half was a non-event, with two below par sides creating very little chances and going into the break with the score goalless. In the second period it was the Swans doing all the pressing. They looked to have taken the lead through Mike van der Hoorn, but Huerelho Gomes pulled off a worldie save to deny the Dutchman. At the other end Watford could well have been awarded a penalty when Valon Behrami was brought down by Kyle Naughton on the area. But the hosts should’ve won it but saw Gylfi Sigurdsson crashed his effort against the post as they had to settle for a point. please log in to view this image The home side Watford head into the visit of Swansea City knowing that they haven’t really got anything to play for, for the remaining seven fixtures. They aren’t in any danger of being relegated but on the other hand they don’t have don’t really have a chance of sneaking into a European spot. What they will want to do though, is ensure they finish in the top half which would be a superb achievement for the Hornets. They currently find themselves sat in 10th place in the table, three points behind Southampton and one ahead of Leicester City. With just one defeat in their last seven home fixtures, they’ll be disappointed not to come away with all three points from this one. please log in to view this image The away side Swansea City go into the trip to Watford knowing that a win here could see them climb out of the drop zone depending on other results around them. It’s been a difficult season for the Swans who are onto their third gaffer of the campaign. It didn’t work under the first two, Francesco Guidolin and Bob Bradley. However Clement has given them slight hope of survival. The current situation sees them sat in the top spot of the drop zone in 18th place. Two points below Hull City and four clear of Middlesbrough who have a game in hand over them. So realistically Swansea need to come away with at least a point here. Especially seeing as though they’ve got some tough fixtures on the horizon. Without a win in their last five, it doesn’t look good for the Welsh side who could make a return to the Championship after six seasons in the top flight. Lee Mason will take charge of Watford’s Premier League clash with Swansea City at Vicarage Road on Saturday. The 45-year-old has officiated two of the Hornets games this season, being the man in the middle for their 2-0 FA Cup win over Burton and 2-2 Premier League draw with Bournemouth. please log in to view this image He has shown 72 yellow cards in the 20 matches he has taken charge of in all competitions during the 2016/17 campaign, as well as two red cards. Last season saw Taylor referee two Watford matches, most notably as the Hornets earned a 3-2 away victory against Aston Villa. The six penalties awarded by Taylor is the joint fourth most in the league this season. No Team News is available yet. WHEREVER YOU ARE IN THE WORLD - ENJOY THE GAME
Our need is greater, your boys will be on a beach somewhere, Llorente and Siggy will play in our traditional offensive formation, with us running out winners at 1-2 scoreline! That's the theory anyway, lets hope it's a good game at least.................
Still no team news, it will not be sorted until tomorrow. This sounds as if we could be struggling to put together a fit team.
Defence is still a problem with Kaboul, Britos and probably Prodl all out. But at least Deeney is back in contention.
I hope that I'm not going to be proved wrong, but Llorente playing against us would suit in open play because whoever we seem to have in defence we struggle more against pace. The problem is set pieces at both ends. How come is it that every corner that I've seen us take in the live games this season seems to either go no further than the defender on the near post or is completely overhit?
I found this. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39582678 All is good exept what has the last two lines to do with our game? Not even is there meaning for Swansea. Watford v Swansea City Watford were torn apart by Spurs last time out, but they are another team that look like they already have enough points to be safe. The Hornets have won three and drawn one of their past five league games at Vicarage Road, and it is their home form that has kept them out of trouble. Swansea, in contrast, have lost their past five games on the road. It seems a long time since they were on the up, although if Fernando Llorente is fit enough to start that would be a massive boost. It is hard to see Sunderland and Middlesbrough getting out of trouble so the final relegation spot is between Swansea and Hull. On current form, I'd back the Tigers to survive but there is time for that to change as well. Lawro's prediction: 2-1 Sting & Joe's prediction: 2-1
We will survive and need no more points unless Swansea get 9 points from 6 games or Middlesbrough 13 from 7. Both possible but way better than their form to date. In practice we will get a few more points here or there. I hope what that does is help our players relax and play better football and not relax and dream of being on the beach somewhere.
TEAM NEWS: Three changes for Watford with Prödl, Capoue & Deeney replacing Cathcart (knee), Success & Okaka.
Same scoreline as for us - but at least our stats made better reading than Bournemouth's. #ClutchingAtStraws
