Our team that day: HORNETS: Gomes (GK); Britos, Prödl, Cathcart; Holebas, Behrami (Watson, 63), Guedioura (Zúñiga, 73), Capoue, Amrabat; Deeney, Ighalo (Anya, 80) Subs not used: Pantilimon (GK), Nyom, , Sinclair, Vydra Etienne Capoue gave Watford the lead on nine minutes with his first Premier League goal for Watford Nathan Redmond equalised for the hosts in the second half Substitute Ben Watson was sent off on 76 minutes So the first game and our first point towards the magical 40 to feel safe. So far we have gathered 31, with Southampton having gained just the one less, so it is not surprising that we sit just one place apart in 12th and 13th, although the Saints have a game in hand. Kaboul says its must win - will Walter feel the same? Have to see who replaces Zárate - does the manager go with a positive approach in Success or play Doucoure again.
As long as hornette skips the lippy we will be ok [Last time I saw her at southampton she applied the lucky lippy two or three times and we lost 4-0 ] I'll miss this one. Showing a mate around Seville and although football fanatics here I can't see a tapas bar showing the 'orns. But be thinking of you all and peering at the score on the mobile every now and then. C'mon u'orns
Are we due a good performance? It seems to come along every 3-4 games. Who will link up midfield and attack this time? Aparrently this is our short terminjury list - Christian Kabasele, Nordin Amrabat, and Ben Watson are out. Also, Costel Pantilimon and Daryl Janmaat both face a race against time to prove their fitness, but Mazzarri indicated neither would be fit to start against Southampton. Who will link up the coach and the players? A "very angry" Mazzarri has given his players no doubt that he demands they stamp out the style of play which has caused problems for the Hornets. “We need to improve and stop sitting back,” he said. “We have done it too many times, and it is a mentality we need to change. I got very angry after West Ham, and we are working on it. We told the players this cannot happen anymore. It’s natural that a losing team gives everything it has, so it’s natural that they pushed us a little bit." Hopefully Southampton still have a cup final hangover. Cheers OFH for weaving the thread.
I wonder how many others find that very odd. I've assumed that, as coach, he has the team playing to his instructions - along the lines of the extremely frustrating 'sit back and let them attack, then hit them on the counter-attack'. This tends to suggest that they are ignoring him - surely not?
Indeed - is something being lost in translation? Probably tells them to sit back for a while (like 10 minutes or something) but then they are meant to push forward. You can see him panic like mad waving his arms around on the touchline - must be an Italian thing (apart from Vialli) as Conte does the same but to a more positive affect!
Yep - it is very odd indeed. Given his choice of sub after the Zárate injury. I think his interpreter is decent, I think WM is just mixing messages - spoken and actions don´t match. Indeed - "Although the story has humorous elements, there is a darker and more significant message underlying the text, leading to a more tragic interpretation of the Mitty character."
Sorry guys im here for the next 3 games thats the bad news .The good news is i leave on the 3rd of April (unless the Airline offer to buy my ticket) so you can have a heavey bet on us losing the next 3 then beating WBA by a lot
Think the key might be keeping Manolo Gabbiadini quiet the BBC says he has scored five goals in his first three appearances for the Saints, including two in the EFL Cup final. He looks dangerous to me.
Back from Australia and ready to get back to the Vic. Southampton never an easy team but it is my birthday today so it's got to be win for us, right?
Happy Birthday. Enjoy! I'm having a celebratory pint or three today as it was mine on St. David's Day. CHEERS!
