The first game since the exciting, but ultimately disappointing League Cup Final sees Southampton visit Vicarage Road to play Watford who sit just above us in the league. Saints drew 1-1 in a disappointing match in August, despite dominating the game (64% possession, 24 shots, 6 shots on target).

Gabby talks about not expecting a start like this and he is keeping his feet on the ground. In that case Gabby, the fans will be six foot up in the air above your head. You've started so you have to go on.....expect boos the first match you don't score. He apparently talks to Puel in 3 languages!! That must help him sleep at night.

 

Looking forward to this one. Play like we did last week and we have 3 points in the bag!

 

I think we are a far better side than results suggest and Gabby is our missing piece....though we should remember it is early days for him, so we mustn't expect too much. Who am I kidding....we expect a hat trick The elephant in the room is the loss on Sunday....the build up and disappointment may have an effect mentally on the team. However, this is a very important game....firstly because of the league position of the two teams, but also because of the gap till our next game. It's okay having games in hand, but better to have the surety of points on the board....remember the games in hand are v Arsenal and United.

 

I can't get myself up for this after the cup. Such a long excitement laden build-up and ultimately, bubbling up under the pride, a lot of disappointment that we come away with nothing.

I would expect to see some of the players that missed out on the cup final come in for this one. Clasie, Hojbjerg, perhaps the new CB, or maybe even the new GK. I think we could see a bit of a post cup final lull (I'm certainly feeling it) and would be fairly happy with a draw.

 

Hope you're not the team psychologist. This is exactly what the players mustn't feel like....what has gone has gone. The only way to get over a defeat is a win...there is still the league to play for. Need to finish the season as we should have started it.

 

I'm going for an easy win: 3-1 saints. Bounce back after the final with another impressive display.

 

You mean, not drawing to 10 man Watford again. Romeu was totally rubbish that day. Feeling better about this one.

Re RSS not being able to get up for it.
No time for anyone who "can't get up for it" me and Mrs. Jab will watch as ever expecting a win no matter who the opposition are. I never took part in any sport with anything other than we/I will win attitude. If you want 100% from the players give it as a supporter.

 

No game in the premier should be classified as an easy game as IMOP there is no such thing. If we play to our strengths and concentrate on doing our job we should come away with something. Any lack of concentration could be and usually is disastrous for us as has been proven throughout the season. COYS.........

 

I was going to give a speech about how Watford aren't in bad form and how they are at home so shouldn't be underestimated and we need to be in the right mindset after Sunday etc.

But then i remembered Gabbiadini is going to score 4 goals on Sat. and i just can't Watford scoring more so we might as well put our feet up and enjoy the win.

 

I'm the opposite...can't wait for this. Hope the players can play with the magic that they did on Sunday and likewise that we the fans can generate some of the atmosphere that we did at the weekend then we'll be on to a winner! Similar result to last time I was there would be great (0-3 Lambert ht). I'm in the away end this time so at least I would be able to celebrate this time!

 

I have absolutely no idea what to expect. Except goals. Them I expect, now that we have Oh-Gabbiadiniiiii!!!!
