Looks as if we will get to see Pereyra who is warming up. I think it will take more than him to get us back into this one.
Was that really a Pen? Arsenals own goal attempt would have been best own goal of the season. Felt we got stuck into them in the middle of the first half and they did not like it. More of that required.
The new signing are looking good they should have started .we are now picking up a lot or cards 4 in this game .
Kevin Friend really did little to improve his reputation. He was total rubbish. Much better second half, and I did like the three newcomers.
I wasn't convinced about the penalty, nor the one-way yellow carding - not to mention the inconsistency in free-kicks. Niall Quinn annoyed me with his after-match assessment - 'Arsenal relaxed in the second half' - I thought we simply upped our game and made a fist of it. Wasn't impressed with Kaboul - he looked lost and a bit cumbersome - and thought Janmaat would replace him & not Kabasele. As for Pererya and Success - they have to start from now on on that showing...
Kevin friend. Kevin bloody friend. Shocking game. I think he is the worst referee at the vic since rob styles. New boys all looked very good to me.
Kaboul had his moments true but overall I thought he was more than okay. Thought Kabasele was better than he too. Pererya almost changed the game on his own. Terrific performance.
I'm wondering if Kabasele was injured? He looked to be the best of the back three in the first half - was puzzled when he went off. To be fair to Kaboul, I think he was wrongly blamed for the second goal - Prodl was the culprit for mine. It looked like he was about to cut out the cross that led to it, then changed his mind and left it for some reason.
I did notice that Success shot off down the left wing, looked up when he arrived near the corner flag, and the other players were still trying to catch up with him. I think he is fast!
I am glad we did not roll over in the second half - 3-0 at half time is always going to be difficult to deal with. On a positive note - we have the same points total this year as we had from those three games last year; however we have scored 3 and conceded 6 - whereas last year we had scored Nil and conceded 5. These first five or six games were always going to be difficult and we have to take as many positives as we can from them so that we can move forward.
Last year QSF taught us how to defend and that is how we survived, this year I think WM wants to make us into an attacking force. I thought our performances so far apart from the last 10 mins against Chelsea and some of the 1st half against Arsenal (they were of fire remember) were very good and some of the lesser teams we will meet after Man U will buckle. I did not really expect any points from these first few matches just wanted to see the Horns put in a shift, and they have for the most part. The commentary of the match I was watching was expecting us to turn the match around in the second half! New boys looked good and I do wonder why they do not start, maybe it part of a longer term plan?
Wasn't at the game (down in Devon) Heard the HT score and was worried we'd end up being hammered but least we seemed to give it a go 2nd half. Do think guys like Pererya and Success will improve us whilst I doubt not having Britos or Cathcart helped from a defensive point of view. Even more so against a side like Arsenal. Of course its a nice easy home game next....
An interesting set of stats from today. Flashscores gave us 37% possession for the first half and 53% for the second.
