Just like Clement before he went to a shoddy Derby, another manager available who is one day destined for the Premier League is available and we will miss out on him. Can't remember who it was but when I last mentioned him a few weeks ago someone said "why would he ever leave Rangers??". All players at Brentford spoke so highly of him and said without question he should be involved with the England set up. Speaking with Nottingham Forest. Now I know our chairman is about as bright as 30 year old 2p coin but he's not mental inept like Nottingham Forests chairman. We would surely be a better option. We will sack LJ before the end of the month and miss out on an available, highly capable manager, again!
It was me that asked the question why would he ever leave Rangers...well it seems the decision has been made for him. He wont come here though. Lansdown wont sack LJ until the bitter end and by then Warburton will have been snapped up elsewhere. Forest have a bad reputation which is probably why Nigel Clough turned them down. Our reputation must be heading that way too in football circles. Instead of Virtute Et Industria on the Bristol coat of arms, we should adopt Unfit and Incompetent on our club badge.
Gus Poyet maybe available very soon as well. Given SL's track record we will give someone from the lower leagues a crack at it again. Or end up with Di Canio! I'd rather him than LJ though I suppose. At least he would dismantle the clubs worth and stature bit by bit in a comical way. Instead of the deluded LJ way.
From the lower leagues, you could do worse than look at Paul Tisdale at Exeter. On the opposite run to us.Operated for years on a shoestring budget.Exeter have won their last 7 league games and 9 out of the last 10. Sitting 4th when they looked more in danger of going down before that run. Longest serving League manager after Arsene Wenger. We could have Derbies against them and Plymouth next season on current forms. That said LJ is still in situ, hopefully we can continue our recent revival.
If I was Paul Tisdale, I'd have better sense than to leave for us. That longest serving manager record is something to be proud of no matter what division you are in. If it were me I wouldn't piss that away to get what would most likely be 12 months in a higher division.
I wonder what other potential managers really think of the happenings down at Ashton Gate and I would like to be a fly on the wall during the next job interview down our way, should it happen.
Mike do you honestly think they actually do interviews? More like sit round the boardroom table and Lansdown tells them who to appoint.
Think we are going to have to accept that. I won't be wasting my money next season though, wasting every afternoon miserable and angry like I did in the SOD days.
This is really laughable, SOD is a Bristol City hero and Steve Lansdown is the anti christ of all of our woes, a traitor to our cause for spending and investing all of those millions. What a load of bollocks...
Perhaps if he had given SOD the same backing as LJ, we could be in a completely different place now. We will never now.
SOD was an idiot. From his very first interview I knew we were doomed. Worst football I've ever seen in my life not just at Ashton Gate.
The guy was trying to run a football team, with one hand, and one foot, tied behind his back wiz. That must of been so stressful.
