That they did. I agree though, good to see some bite in our play. We are just so weak and pathetic when teams counter us. Hendo doesn't get stuck in like that often enough. I've criticized Can a lot, I just hope he can play like that in every game.
Didn't Coutinho get two yellows in one match for doing that a couple of years ago? Or was it one for that and another for something equally trivial? Players do it all the time but hardly ever get penalised for it.
I can certainly accept the point that if you get a yellow and you can't put a foot in at all for rest of game but i'd rather a guy gets a yellow stopping what he sees is a developing danger than he gets it cheaply for 2/3 silly fouls that are going nowhere. The sad thing is leicester did not even get a card a week ago and bullied us off the park.
The only reason I got involved in this is because Jimmy praised Can for getting stuck in but berates Lucas all the time for the same thing. Lucas fouls constantly, and gets away with a lot because often they're not blatant. This is fine as a DM - it's what you need him to do- but not so good for a CB. Which he isn't, and shouldn't be playing there.
True. Like you mentioned earlier - feel a hand on your back, go over like you've been pole-axed, then roll around to get the offender into more trouble. Pathetic.
Every player, Gerard, Lucas, Can, have a nasty side, it depends how they manage it. Can committed a foul he nearly made the referee feeling guilty of trying give him another yellow. We see all the time in Europe players rolling and rolling on the field as if they will never kick the ball again.
you are right and everyone is right that once he got the yellow he needed to be a slight bit more careful... but then the game was at anfield... you can get away with it at home a bit more. MY point still stands the first foul was a good one for me. I was happy to see him stop a break that way. Ideally after that players rotate such that he doesn't have a decision to make.
Not when he got sent off, I don't think. Against west Ham he picked up a silly booking for standing in front of the ball, then later a second for an uncontrolled foul.
Yeah I can't recall. found it http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/philippe-coutinho-out-liverpool-fc-9954076 he was sent off v west ham so missed a utd game.
Arsene Wenger 'stands up' for decision not to start forward http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39170037
Agree with Donga. Waste of a card. Sanchez had already passed the ball and therefore it didn't stop the Arsenal attack.
Agreed - first card was needless and it wasn't preventing an attack as such. The second was just pure ****housery. Xhaka was the one who got booked lol!!
The second was great had he not already been booked. Because he had already been booked it was stupid. The fact he didn't need to make the challenge because Matip was there makes it ludicrous! Xhaka getting booked with Matip & Can escaping was hilarious
