Seems like VR headsets are the latest newfangled home entertainment invention to potentially sink or swim.

I can see a lot of potential to them but also big downsides. It'd be horrific if in the future, in the evenings families all stick their headsets on and don't talk or even look at each other, because photo realistic virtual adventures are more fun than the same four walls.

On the other hand how sweet would it be if you could watch football live while sitting in the best seat in the stadium without having to leave your house, but then that would be bad for attendances. Films would be intense if rather than seeing it happen on a screen you were sat in the ship during a space battle or in the ring during a boxing match seeing sweat and blood flying past you. Porn would be next level but then you run the risk of your parents in law popping round and finding you jacking it in the lounge completely oblivious.

Like I say, positives and negatives. What do you reckon?

Is there a virtual world where Sunderland are perennial league champions?

I think our kids and their kids are going to grow up in a technological world we can't begin to imagine.

Whether that's for the better or worse, I'm not sure.

You've probably seen it where you get a group of younguns together and they prefer to get their phones out and go online rather than speak to each other, it'd like that but way worse.

It would be fantastic entertainment though with almost unlimited potential, dangerously so.

My kids are grown up now but when all get together, either at home or out, there's a no phones rule while we're together. Phones on mute and vibrate for incoming calls only. It's not too much to ask for people to be with those around them, not with those miles away.

........ or a group of adults who go out for a meal and then prefer to communicate with other people who aren't there.

You've obviously thought this through quite a lot, so when are you taking delivery? and make sure you draw the curtains and lock the doors before you get your tagger out.

I don't see a problem with it, I'm just probably never going to buy one.

I bought a 3d tele once, for my room, 43" and I used it once (for 3d purposes) before I gave it away and replaced it with a better tv.

Same as I'll probably never buy a car that drives itself, or if I do, I'll never use that feature.

Certain things, for me, are completely redundant even before their release.

I don't know what the current batch of VR headsets is like but if in the future they're as good as I'm picturing then porn will be immense, you'd probably need a shower afterwards.

I think at the moment VR is more or less just a gimmick along the lines of 3d TVs but looking ahead I can picture it being the sort of thing that will make people look back at this time and say "I can't believe people used to sit and watch a flat screen".

Who knows. For me it's the new home entertainment gadget with the most potential even if it's not much cop now.

When they invent the VR headset that also gives you a blow job then I want one, until they do I just don't see the attraction. Just watch the TV FFS.

I saw an article this morning saying futuristic sex dolls are to be given human rights.

    Of course they are.

It depends how realistic you want them to be mate, the scouse ones are obviously much cheaper due to the accents, and they may or may not steal your car.

You could probably get a set up where you've got a fleshlight type thing hooked up to move on its own while it's synced with you having a POV shag on your VR headset.

If VR does become popular you know there's going to be a load of inventive ways it'll be used to enhance porn. Bit of a hard sell to the wife though eh.

Not really mate, just get her one with a Rampant Rabbit attached, sorted.

And as I said before, it looks like you've put a lot of thought into this, are you a welder by any chance? :)

No haha just the sort of person that whenever new tech comes out thinks "hmm, how will this make porn better".
