If true then it's a case of Vardy in, Mardy out - perhaps we already have a potential deal in place for Beckford to join Leeds? Either way can't see Nigel laying out a million if he is not going to be a key player for next season - actually quite pleased - seen some footage of Vardy and he is definitely qucker and with a better touch than JB - potentially an excellent signing - IF TRUE!!
What are you talking about - we are potentially paying £1M for a non league player who has never played at a higher level. WTF? - Is he even a professional? There are better choices out there for the money - Lewis Grabben for example who started off at this level but lost his way for a bit and now has found his feet again.
...yep but that would be fitness levels etc, if the lad has it, he has it, just needs a good preseason to get him up and ready, and I'm sure Nige will bring out the best in him...... excellent start to Big Nige's Revolution... getting quite excited.....
Bert, 4th Official and this "insider" are confirming, probably is done, no doubt it will take 2 months to appear on LCFC.com
Ian Stringer ‏ @StringerSport Fleetwood have confirmed that #lcfc are in negotiations to sign Jamie Vardy although they claim other clubs are interested. Deal seems close
In today's mad market £1m is hardly big bucks - if he has a good season we can sell him for 5 x that - if not then we should still be able to recoup a good portion because there will definitely be clubs in L1 and L2 who would be interested - so its hardly a gamble What's more there have been plenty of non-league players who have stepped up seemlessly - whilst i'm not saying this guy is going to be another Ian Wright I'd rather pay £1m for a hungry young talent than half that for a journeyman pro. Each to his own but I know which I prefer
Millwall took Steve Morison from non league a few years back. And he is a welsh international and plays in the prem now
Morison had played in the League before - even had a trial here - before dropping into non-league. Vardy never has and has never even been on the books of a League club - has never had any proper training, has probably never played at a proper stadium. He does have a Premiership level WAG though... https://twitter.com/#!/HayleyEllieM Hopefully he will prove my pessimism wrong and be the next Ian Wright!
Chris Smalling was playing non league football. With in 12 months he had gone from non league to Fulham to Manchester United to England
They're both young, and I think Smalling will make a very good player in a few years. But Jones is garbage. The biggest £18m waste for a defender.
