Novak Djokovic has been a steady presence in the final weekend of the US Open since 2007, reaching the semifinals or better each of the last six years, four times appearing in the men’s singles final.

If the 2011 champion lives up to his seeding, he’ll be there again in 2013.

Djokovic is the No. 1 seed on the men’s side for the 2013 US Open, earning top billing for the second time in three years. (He also was the top seed in 2011.) Rafael Nadal, who moved up to No. 2 in the world on the heels of back-to-back titles the last two weeks at the Emirates Airline US Open Series events in Montreal and Cincinnati, has earned the No. 2 seed.

Defending US Open champion Andy Murray will be seeded third, followed by No. 4 David Ferrer and No. 5 Tomas Berdych. Juan Martin del Potro, the 2009 champion, is No. 6.

Hmmm I heard about Nadal being seeded @2, I couldn't find mention of the other 5 anywhere so thanks for posting this Sterio. It's no surprise that the Djok is #1 seed, though he isn't as consistent elsewhere on the tennis circuit he certainly seems to be at the US Open. Andy hasn't had a good run-up but that might not mean anything - we'll have to see. It has to be between the Djok, Nadal and Murray doesn't it?

Can't see anyone else winning it. Ferrer possibly as an outside bet?

Anyway, LLodra first up for Andy. It's played three, won three for Murray.

Is anyone else worried about a possible meeting with Berdych in the QF? Besides that I would love to see a Murray vs Nadal final.

Not thought that far ahead yet tbh. Murray v Nadal would be awesome!

I'm more worried about a shock first round exit for Murray! But then I am one of life's naturalist pessimists.

Good wins for Laura Robson and Dan Evans especially yesterday.

Murray through in straight sets against Llodra. Ridiculous time to be playing. Didn't finish until after midnight, US time.

    Robson through as well.

What about Dan Evans? Through to the last 32 after beating Bernard Tomic.

Have to say that Nadal is looking very, very hard to beat which is bad news for Andy Murray.

Never thought I'd say it but the Brits rule right now. Dan Evans has done exceptionally well!

Robson has been knocked out by Li Na, not totally unexpected if I'm honest.

Andy is through to the 3rd round after another comfortable win! Seems to be on form as is usual in the big events.

And another win last night but apparently he was struggling to breathe due to the humidity. Djokovic and Ferrer look in good form too.

If Andy wins this I think it will eclipse his win here last year.

Roger Federer out to Robredo in straight sets.

He really should have retired after winning Wimbledon in 2012. It's not nice watching such a great player struggling to reach the latter stages of major tournaments.

Ahhh we denied a great match up between Nadal and Federer there. But overall so far mid way through the tournament I still think Serena and Rafa will be hard to beat, but anything can happen, as we saw what happened with Federer vs Robredo.

So for QF draw we have:-

Djokovic v Youzhny (Djoko in 3)
Murray v Wawrinka (Murray in 4 or 5 sets)
Ferrer v Gasquet (Ferrer in 3)
Nadal v Robredo (Nadal in 3)

Semis: Djokovic v Murray (Hard to call - have to slightly say Djokovic in 4 or 5, but Murray can do it as well)
Nadal v Ferrer (Nadal in 3 or 4 sets)

Final Djokovic v Nadal (Djokovic in 5)

    Thoughts?

What do you guys think will be the scores for this round and semis and final? My picks are as above

If Murray does prove me wrong and get to the final Nadal would be slight favourite based on his current hard-court form. If Nadal wins against Murray, it'll go 4 or probably 5 sets. If Murray wins it'll go 4 or 5 too as Nadal never gives in.

If Murray does beat Wawrinka which I and nearly everyone except and faces Djokovic who likewise we expect to beat Youzhny, and then goes onto beat Novak he will be at huge disadvantage psychically as I'm sure the victor of a Novak and Andy semi will have to win in 5 sets whereas Nadal on the other side might have a easier QF and SF.

I think Nadal will take the title by sheer power. I don't see the Djok winning it, he's not consistent enough, of course I would like for Murray to win but somehow I don't see it happening though I can't explain why.

Thanks for your input Robert and Ronnie.

I agree, better to quit before the decline. He has a family for heaven sake and he's hardly short of a bob or two!
