you mean his demeanour? He can't possibly be full of beans when he's lost 3 games in a row to his rival in a derby, to a modest team like Feyernoord and to one mid ranking one like Watford. Let's wait until he's won 10 in a row, his team at the top and he's won a few manager of the months awards before we ask him to be full of the joys of life
Chicken and egg situation. He might get that 10 wins in a row and some fervour in individual players if he himself looks full of energy and excitement. He's hardly looked like he's enjoying himself, even when we were winning. I think anyone coming to United feels they need to behave if a degree of self-importance. Look at Moyes for example. No need from Mourinho, the guy is a top manager. He doesn't need to behave like that. Fergie was never a miserable sod on the touchline.
It would take some time for Mourinho to find himself again after the way he acrimoniously left Chelsea and the way he got the United job. Then top that with the pressure from City. I am happy that he isn't happy - yet. When he finally has the right squad playing week in, week out with fans fully believing in them, then his joy will no doubt return.lol. Let's win the next 5 games and check again.
True, but if you take that too far he may end up like Brenton - big smiles and praising his team to highest heaven after shipping six goals to Stoke. The manager does need to keep the players grounded as well pushing the passion angle, and SAF was regularly a miserable sod on the touchline when he felt the players needed to be more serious, particularly in the big games or when the team was struggling.
Definitely not saying he should be waxing lyrical like Brendan the baboon. But some enthusiasm for the job he's coveted and now got. SAF, even when pissed off never looked dejected, he was always barking orders and it was a genuine passion for the job. I don't want to make a big thing out of it because it isn't a big thing, but I'd like to see Mourinho behaving like every game means something to him.
Do you not get the impression that he is trying to behave calm and grown up now he has a top job. Even in interviews he is being very reserved as though he is frightened of being himself and somehow disgracing the club (**** it up for himself). He needs to be the man/character that brought him success otherwise he will end up another Moyes. Has he been told how to behave, is he being monitored or, is he genuinely feeling the effects of his fathers illness and it has taken all the mischief out of him. Time will tell I suppose.
I agree. He's going OTT with it imo and it's not really him. I hope it's nowt to do with his father's illness tbh.
Apparently he has a bad behavior clause in his contract - if he gets up to anything then he can be terminated without compensation.
Even IF that were true (which I'm not convinced it is because it's such a vague interpretation AND is covered in most employment as "gross misconduct" anyway) he has nothing to worry about there as he will be judged first and foremost by results. If he's winning games and/or improving the club long term he honestly has nothing to worry about.
