A place to discuss the events in UEFA land during the 2016-17 season. UEFA CL/EL games not involving Spurs, tournament draws, which UEFA officials have been arrested etc.
Some of our old friends (Young Boys, PAOK, Anderlecht, Monaco etc) playing in this CL round. Celtic are through. Anderlecht are out.
Everyone will be gutted to hear that there'll be no Champions League trip to Qarabag this season. They got knocked into the Europa by Viktoria Plzen yesterday. Both of Celtic's goals came from injury-time penalties tonight. No wonder Astana's players were pissed. Two sent off after the goal.
<BBC>An injury-time Moussa Dembele penalty sealed place in the play-off round of the Champions League. Is this how Spurs are getting round the FA ban ??
Not sure whether Celtic crashing tonight or really being torn to pieces in the group stages will be more fun for the Brenton watchers.
Is the ref for Roma/Porto a real stickler for getting his cards out, or is the match as nasty as the cards count suggest?
Copied this from a Mirror article so apologies if not accurate, we're apparently in Pot 3 so these are the sides we can be drawn against later on today: Pot one: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Benfica, Paris Saint-Germain, CSKA Moscow Pot two: Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla, Porto, Napoli, Bayer Leverkusen Pot three: N/A Pot four: Monaco, Besiktas, Legia Warsaw, Ludogrets, Celtic, Rostov, Cophenagen, Dinamo Zagreb Ideal scenario for me would be: Barcelona, Juve or Bayern (or just at least anyone apart from CSKA!). Atletico Madrid (avenge our pre-season loss!), if Barca are drawn then I presume Atleti can't be in the same group, so then I'd like Leverkusen. Celtic as I hate the Scots (Scottish Spurs fans, you're the exception of course ).
Ideal scenario would be the weakest pot 2 and strong pot 1. We don't want the pot 2 or the pot 4 picking up any surprising points against the pot 1 if we are to progress. Ideally we would though, but lets not count on that and just go for a nice trip abroad..... Barca Leverkusen Celtic Make it so UEFA, make it so.
And we must not forget the afflicted on this auspicious day : the Spanners have their 4th Europa qualifying game tonight against Astra Zeneca sunday league.
Spanners put out by Astra Zeneca sunday league. You can ponce a stadium, try to bid for our transfer targets, but in what universe are you our rival ?? Europa League, you're having a laugh !!!
