Here's an odd rumour I've seen doing the rounds: Mikel Arteta could leave Arsenal this summer and head to WHL.

    As a coach.

The Wail report that we've lost interest in Dembele II after Chelsea expressed a need to sign yet another player for the express intention of signing a player so they don't play for somebody else.

Obviously, the kid wants to see the world whilst he's young. Sign for Chelsea, loan here, loan there, sold to Everton. If that's what he wants,he's not for us.

If he really wants to see Arnhem and Nijmegen, couldn't he just watch A Bridge Too Far?

We need a striker that can hold the ball up. It's a skill that no one else in our squad can do as well as Kane and bring others into the game around him. First goal was a case in point.

Arnheim twinned with Croydon because of the extent of war damage to both towns. Went their a good few years ago to mark the 50th anniversary of the terrible losses of the para's dropped in there. Wonderful local people who will never forget the sacrifice.

Reckon we will try to sign 1 or 2 strikers and one quality defensive midfielder.

Maybe offload 3 or 4 : fazio, yedlin, bentaleb, carroll ?, chadli ?

A few journalists are saying that our transfer strategy for the summer is to sign players aged 24 or under, so applying that to the players we're linked with
    Youri Tielemans - YES
    Michy Batshuayi - YES
    Ousmane Dembele - YES
    Moussa Dembele - YES
    Saido Berahino - YES
    Domenico Berardi - YES
    Anwar El Ghazi - YES
    Sebastien Haller - YES
    Jonathan Calleri - YES
    Sandro Ramirez - YES
    Andrija Zivkovic - YES
    Yunus Malli - YES
    Yictor Wanyama - YES
    Callum Wilson - YES
    Sofiane Boufal - YES
    Nikola Maksimovic - YES (just...)

    Mario Mandzukic - NO
    Nicolas N'Koulou - NO
    Axel Witsel - NO
    Lassana Diarra - NO
    Sofiane Feghouli - NO
    Islam Slimani - NO
    Gianluca Lapadula - NO
    Keisuke Honda - NO
    Mehmet Topal - NO
    Andre Schurrle - NO

There is, however, one thing to consider: Alderweireld was 26 when we signed him last summer.

Croydon is also twinned with Prypyat...or at least it was for the three years nobody thought of removing my little edit on Wikipedia.

I'd like to see us go for Arnautovic. I see big similarities with Kane and reckon he'd get a good return with better service. I doubt Stoke would accept less than £10m though and may want much more.

EDIT: His £12.5m release clause becomes active the summer - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...mer-prompting-scramble-for-his-signature.html

It's also true that almost no strikers in the PL can do it as well as Kane and signing someone who can do some of the things Kane can do is not necessarily going to improve our squad.

I like him but he doesn't work anywhere near hard enough to be a Spurs player. Him, Bojan, Affelay, Shaqiri - Stoke would be a force to be reckoned with if those 4 truly busted a gut every game. Having said that though, he'd definitely be a step up from Chadli, and wouldn't cost much more as you've pointed out.

Hmm not sure I'd agree with that mate. For what it's worth I really do like Arnautovic, I've sung his praises for most of the season but I genuinely think he and Nacer are literally carbon copies of one another in terms of talent, if anything I'd say Nacer may just edge him albeit very slightly. Both big lads, play mainly on the wing, good skill, great technique, eye for goal and can hold the ball up well though I think Nacer has better tactical awareness and a better cross. Their goal stats in fact are pretty much identical according to Wiki, since they joined Stoke and Spurs respectively, they've both scored 15 league goals in that time with Arnautovic playing just 5 more games (89 to 84), although this season Nacer has had less playing time due to injuries and form of others so I'd place a bet that Nacer has a better goals to minutes ratio.

An argument however could be made in that as we have a better side than Stoke, the fact Arnautovic has matched Nacer in stats would suggest he's been better over the three years, although I'd use Gylfi as an example of a player who can excel at being a key player of a good team rather than being a good player in a great team.

Both very good players though whichever way you want to look at it but for as much as I do rate Arnautovic, I don't really see what he'd offer us that Chadli couldn't and I'd rather save the £12.5m on more pressing concerns (CF and DM!!! <laugh>).

I wonder whether Poch would have sold Gylfi ?

    I suspect not tbh.

It's only the Mirror but we've been linked to Schurrle today. I very much hope this has legs to it.

Probably my favourite link so far, and that's today's rumour about is being in negotiation with Wolfsburg for Andre Shurrle. Apparently he's unsettled and keen on a return to the premier league.

What a signing that'd be. Quality player, and just the type of player we need in the CL next season. Only 25, but pretty experienced. Can play up top, or in a wide position, too.

Really hope this story has legs.
