Gladbach havinf bit of shocking year by looks of it, close to relegation so I'd imagine they won't be keen to move him on in January instead hoping he helps them stay up then move in summer for decent fee when enters last 12 months of contract.

Tbh anyone that joins in January will struggle to fit into the style and tempo we play.

Like someone said Klopp takes preseason very seriously regarding getting his players into his way of playing.

Long term we're better off waiting until the summer, unless one of our top targets suddenly becomes available, which lets be honest is highly unlikely.

I'm fairly happy with no signings until the summer.

Unless you get them in now with idea of using them sparingly to get them used to squad and training so ready to hit the ground running next season.

I remember when Arsenal bought that player after European competition, he came to Anfield and scored hat tricks. I was cursing our manager for not
buying him. In the end he was sub standards.

Guy was played as a winger to track back when that wasn't really what he was. Even then his output was pretty good considering in his final seasons most of his appearances were off the bench.

He did get a bit sub standard at the end, just couldn't be bothered anymore when he reached his 30s

IMO he didn't bother his arse and that was 90% of his problem.

think my point was, its not so much that he was a january signing, just that he got old and couldn't be bothered anymore. Was still a class player.

Someone put up a table for comparison on goals assists appearances minutes etc for him and Paul at time at Arsenal. Arshavin stats were far better in goals and assists were pretty much same I think

    the point being...

he had been strongly linked to other clubs for double the fee and nobody wuld pay it unitl his contract ran down and arsenal felt it was a bargain buy i njanuary for 10mil or so... and i nthe end thier decisiont o snag a bargain backfired when he just didn't bother hi hole to work hard.

he had 4 years at arsenal and his best time was his first 6 months. good player but lazy imo.

Berahino going stoke for £10m rising to £15m. Interesting to see how he does. Huge potential when he came in, fell out with pullis massively and suffered as a result

a club he didn't want to join and i predict a brief surge of effort followed by a similar whine and wanting to leave if he gets any attention

Agree, yet another player who thinks they have made it and can stop trying once they earn £50k a week. Players like him will always move on as the next club always think they can get the best out of them, then realise they have signed a lazy, mercenary twat who just likes collecting their cut of the next transfer.

Fonte going to West ham. Seems it's not a lot of cash that's motivating the move but he wants a signing on fee come where before he needs a zimmer frame.
