I can assure you that you absolutely can get "a" Danny Drinkwater for 41m. Not necessarily "the" Danny Drinkwater as we have no need to sell as we don't need the money.

For 41m you'd surely expect someone to have done more but you're not wrong, the market is ****ed and Ajax knew that Spurs would cough up.
