please log in to view this image Sunday 12th March 2pm FA Cup Quarter-Final White Hart Lane The team set a new record for us with the victory over Everton, recording our ninth consecutive home win in the league. It's an impressive run and one that we'll need to continue, if we're to maintain our position. This game will be something a little different, though. Our last ever FA Cup game at the Lane and it's against another London club in good form. This competition was made for games like this. Millwall are currently sitting in 6th place in League One, having gone unbeaten since just before Christmas. They've tightened up at the back and are grinding out results, steadily climbing the table. A play-off place looks pretty likely, but automatic promotion's not completely out of reach. How did they reach this stage of the competition? Wins over Southend and Braintree took them to the 3rd round and they've since played 3 Premier League sides. Bournemouth, Watford and Leicester all fell at The Den, each failing to score a single goal. Plenty of warnings there for us to add to the one we got against Wycombe in the 3rd round. We need to put out a strong side and they need to be fully switched on. This is our best shot at a trophy and it's been too long without one. Millwall's latest league game was against MK Dons and was another win for the hosts: Who to look out for from Millwall? Veteran striker Steve Morison's in his 2nd successful spell at the club and he's their main threat up front. Aiden O'Brien and Lee Gregory are their other options and they're both finding the net frequently, too. Fred Onyedinma is a tricky young winger who we need to look out for, as well. Ex-Spurs academy keeper Jordan Archer will be between the posts for the visitors. He won their Player of the Year award last season. Left-back Joe Martin is another one of our ex-academy players, the son of Alvin Martin. Centre-backs Jake Cooper and Tony Craig have impressed recently, since the former joined from Reading on loan. They were both nominated for the latest League 1 POTM, with the Cooper winning it. Neither club has any suspensions for this one, but we're still missing Rose and Lamela through injury. Millwall will give late tests to Archer, Morison and Wallace. Lineups for each side's last league game: Spurs: Lloris; Dier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen; Walker, Wanyama, Dembele, Davies; Eriksen, Alli; Kane. Subs: Vorm, Trippier, Wimmer, Winks, Sissoko, Son, Janssen. League form: DDWLWW. Millwall: King; Cummings, Cooper, Webster, Craig; Ferguson, Thompson, Williams, Onyedinma, O'Brien, Gregory. Subs: Girling, Hutchinson, Butcher, Worrall, Romeo, Wallace, Morison. League form: WWWDDW. Referee: Martin Atkinson. TV: BBC1. Do we risk squad rotation for this one and if so, do we change our system? Has anyone looked like they need resting or dropping and who should replace them, if they have? How do we avoid the defensive issues we had against Wycombe?
Full team with perhaps Vorm playing in goal (as I think I read he has a clause to play all FA Cup games). Want to absolutely butcher this lot in devastating fashion, hopefully Harry goes for yet another hattrick of 2017. Vorm Dier, Toby, Jan Walker, Wanyama, Dembele, Davies Eriksen, Alli Kane Lloris, Tripps, Kev, Winks, Onomah, GKN, Son Slay those ****ing Lions.
I'd go for a 'rotation lite', especially if (EDIT: when - just saw they're playing Stoke) City are back above us by close of business this evening. For me: Vorm Dier Toby Wimmer Trippier Wanyama Winks Davies Eriksen Son Kane SUBS: Lloris Jan Kyle Dembele Alli N'Koudou Janssen Although I have a feeling that Our Lord and Saviour will be given a place in the starting XI.
Rotation ?? What the eff for ?? Do we want to win a bloody trophy or don't we ?? Anything less than a full strength side and I will go nuts.
Indeed. With no Europa now, we are down to one game a week, with the Palace game to be rescheduled, and at worst the Leicester game if Spurs reach the SFs. Just like 12 months ago, Pochettino knows his best side subject to injuries, and will have to stick with them.
Full strength then take players off if we are comfortably ahead...no pissing around...I want us to win a trophy...it's been too long imo
Totally agree no need to rest players so pick our best XI and get the game won. Then we will be in the semi finals with 'home' advantage - and only 2 wins from the joy of seeing Hugo with a trophy in his mitts
FA CUP RULES CHANGES: "The competition will now adopt a straight knockout format with no more replays taking place, while a fourth substitute has also been introduced for the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The removal of replays means our quarter-final against Millwall will have to be settled on Sunday. Should the scores be level after 90 minutes, extra time and penalties will be used if required. The additional substitution rule only applies once the game goes into extra time. Managers will now be able to use a fourth substitute from their bench during the extra half hour. Meanwhile, the draw for the FA Cup semi-finals will take place after Chelsea's match against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Monday. Quarter-finals Middlesbrough v Manchester City (Saturday, 12.15pm) Arsenal v Lincoln City (Saturday, 5.30pm) SPURS v MILWALL (Sunday, 2pm) Chelsea v Manchester United (Monday, 7.45pm)"
AFTER? Well that's a novel idea. Makes you wonder why they couldn't have done that in previous rounds! I had no idea about the fourth substitute.
