Admiral have always done the cheapest nylon shirts. They did the Utd kits in the late '70s too. Cheap and nasty
MOTD decided that Stoke's two penalty claims were worth a view, but our blatant one wasn't, for some reason. Rather questionable, as was Gullit's decision to haul Janssen over the coals. Bizarre criticism for him holding the ball up for our first goal, in particular. No wonder he's not a manager any more.
Whilst pro footballers can surely give us many insights into the game the media assume that they are all tactical gurus, if that was the case there would be little need for coaches. Some footballers obviously do have tactical insight but some is the operative word. Not all musicians are composers and not all carpenters are furniture designers.
Ruud Gullit is a singularly awful analyst. If he can actually successfully explain one of his non-insights it's fairly likely that he will actually contradict himself within a few seconds, all whilst showing you a bit of video that does nothing to demonstrate his point. Many times I've pitied the poor sods who had that clueless idiot as manager. Goes to show how much luck plays a part in football careers, considering the "success" he had at Chelsea. HOWEVER I was horrified to find myself agreeing with him a little bit in the Janssen thing (though Gullit, as usual, failed entirely to demonstrate or explain his point). So far it's almost looks like he loves the hustle and bustle element so much he doesn't look to receive the ball *unless* he has a defender behind him and the physical battle side of things seems to be his number one priority at times. It's almost like he prefers having the ball under pressure to trying to find space. I might be wrong. The fact that Gullit was thinking similar things certainly makes it likely. Seriously him and Keown together add basically zero insight into the games to the point where I wouldn't even believe what they say about the formations teams played on the day. In fact I've just realised who Keown reminds me of - Garth Crooks. They both have a sort of serious, straight-faced way of speaking as if what they're saying is clever and important yet they're both idiots.
People are overlooking the singularly most important thing to happen in yesterday's match: N'Koudou made his Premier League debut. There's photo evidence and everything! please log in to view this image
Am I totally alone in quite liking that yellow kit? I mean as yellow football kits go it's quite a nice yellow, I thought. I very rarely have strong preferences either way when it comes to kits, mind. They all look funny at first, then they look normal and then after a decade or two they look funny again. I think about two decades after they come out is when they look the worst. Pretty sure that the 90s would throw up more horrors now than any other era - for one thing they always look ludicrously baggy to my eyes now. Then there were the colour schemes...
It's got just enough of a shade of orange to it to do my colour blindness no favours at all. It doesn't take much. I ****ing hate it. Worst kit we've ever worn.
