I am saying you should take the bread out of the mouths of all the UK press
football "journalists" who write about Spurs. Nobody will miss those oxygen thieves.

That's slightly different Defoe had scored 5, no one has ever scored 6 in a premier league game and chances to be the first to do so are unlikely to come around too often.

A sixth goal would have given him the outright PL record

It would yes but he didn't declare on five did he? He wanted more and I think a couple more should have gone in last night.

Dude, we'd qualified for the next round after Eriksen's second goal. Nothing else mattered last night after that apart from putting in a good performance, which we did

All the goals, as no one has posted Lamela's:

We will never know but if he had only 3 of the 9 he may have eased off too

Personally, I'd like us to develop the capability to play a containing game where we control possession without going all-out to attack. If we had that capability we'd have beaten Stoke, Newcastle and The Gooners last season and possibly won the league. You don't have to thump everyone all the time, winning clever is a real skill.

Despite missing a few, Janssen was a constant threat. He created a few of the goals by occupying their defence and that freed our midfield.

I was particularly impressed with his touch to set up Lamela. He just needs to score on Saturday.

But how will the press slag us off?

It's not paranoia when that's genuinely what's been happening since the end of last season.

He really does bully defenders doesn't he? But in a fair way, unlike Diego "I'll punch, scratch and slap you" Costa, he actually uses his strength, tenacity and positioning to make it really awkward for them to tackle him. Have to say it's early doors but I really like the look of him, think that once he's more settled and used to our way he'll be a force and give Kane a real push for that striker role and give Poch a lovely headache!

    That's a really powerful photo.

Could be iconic for this club and country in years to come.

The best example of this play for me was for Eriksen's second goal.
Lamela goes on his run and Janssen takes a defender way from the Dane, then blocks him from getting across to make a tackle.
Exactly what strikers should be doing when they're not involved in a move directly.

Completely agree. He's a good old fashioned centre forward who epitomizes the cliche of being a 'handful'. What impresses me about him is his ability to fire off shots from the narrowest of angles and crowded situations. Absolutely perfect for the PL if early indications can be trusted.

(Let's recall that Soldado's first goal for us was also a penalty :emoticon-0138-think)

"Soldado's first goal.... etc"....... I'd noticed that too, CK, but thought it wiser to keep stumm!

Some of those goals came in the last few minutes of the game if memory serves, so he cant have spent long trying to get the 10th !
