That was me, and because you appear to be utter plank-ton in your understanding, let me explain things very carefully to you. Targeting an opponent who is known to be unable to restrain themselves from committing fouls is fair game. That does not mean cheating (diving, feigning contact or injury) , it means guaranteeing the opponent will commit the foul because they lack the skill/restraint to do otherwise when placed in that situation. In basketball this is a common tactic, as all fouls a player makes are counted regardless of severity, and when you have 5 you are out of the game. Nothing made Alonso or Kante persistently foul yesterday other than their lack of skill/restraint in the tackle. What ALLOWED them to CONTINUE was the fact prAtkinson did not give yellows when they had clocked up more than enough.
When Manure players targeted Hazard, even though they all did it only once, the ref called the Manure captain and told him the next foul on Hazard gets booked. Kante persistently fouled Alli and Luiz persistently fouled Kane but Kante got his booking late in the game and Luiz didn't get one at all. I still don't understand why the ref stopped the game when Luiz got injured in the first half. We had the ball in rthe Chelsea half and had a reasonable chance of getting a goal. Fron the restart it was kicked to Lloris, a loss if 50 metres and a chance for Chelsea to regain shape.
Clogging people all over the park is not football. That's why it's against the rules. If you can't beat a team without doing that, then pack up and go home. Repeatedly going through the back of people is a dirty tactic. If I was a ref, then I'd actually give fouls and book people. The idea that Spurs fans are especially prone to criticising the ref is pretty funny coming from a Chelsea supporter. You literally hounded a top ref out of the game with death threats! Mourinho's go to tactic after any bad result was to absolutely batter the officials, yet you loved him. Ridiculous hypocrisy. As for waving imaginary cards, I didn't see anyone doing that, but they are actually supposed to get booked for it. I'd criticise it if I saw it, just as I did Alli's dive against Swansea. Diving by other players is apparently fine, though.
Atkinson's doing what those in charge want him to do though, in his defence. The same is true of Michael Oliver and a few others that have risen to the top of their field in this country. They've clearly been told to let the game flow as much as possible and don't make any harsh decisions, especially in the big games. Why? It makes for better TV coverage and for the media in general. We might have been frustrated by yesterday's officials, but the game was seen as a big success and great for the neutral. Compared to most of the dull, lifeless FA Cup semi-finals and finals that we've seen in recent years, the FA will be very happy.
That is just a matter of professional (dis)courtesy. There was nothing to stop any Chelsky player putting the ball out as close to possible as to where Spurs did in order to stop play. Don't hold your breath waiting for top-level pros to do this though.
It really was. Luiz and Kante got away with a ton of fouls, as Atkinson played on repeatedly, despite little sign of any advantage. Alonso got pulled up a bunch of times, then got booked for something that wasn't even a foul. Willian should've been off in the first half, but the incident then totally disappeared afterwards, for some reason.
I do tend to go by the old adage that a poster is generally the sum of his profile and signature......
Watching the city arsenal semi final. A gooner just hacked down Silva...the ref called him over rebuked and clearly warned him but kept card in pocket...but the ref has made it clear that 1 more and he's in the book. I get that way of refereeing...makes it clear that you can't simply keep hacking players down with impunity.
Of course. The referee sets the tone from the beginning. You don't want a card fest from minute 1, but you don't want snide persistent fouling to continue far into a game. Rugby is good in that regard (the ref tells the captains that he has had enough of persistent infringement and the next offence will be suitably punished regardless of who does it) .
