Colback is such a liability. For me, it's astonishing he's still in the first eleven and it's March. Another question for Rafa.
I'll answer on Rafa's behalf. If Hayden was fit Colback wouldn't be in the first eleven and if Ashley hadn't blocked January signings we would probably have a better alternative. In short, we are short in CM.
Fair enough, but Fulham rocked up with a 16 year old full back who scored twice. If the reserves, U-21's and youth players at a club of our size aren't better than Jack fcking Colback, then we're fcked. In every way imaginable, be it squad depth, making money from player sales, or simply changing matches. It's deeply unsettling that players like Colback, Lascelles and Diame can be/have to be picked no matter how intensely sh!t they are. Today why we couldn't start Shelvey/Diame in a 4-4-2 is beyond me. We're putting Murphy on the bench just so Rafa can play his poxy 4-2-3-1, with players who add nothing. We needed to press this game, pick a front two and go at them. We'd have been better off just writing to the FA and asked for a default 0-3 defeat.
Diame couldn't pass wind today though, never mind a football. Colback put in a better performance than him. I'd probably have picked that team though to be honest, albeit on paper calling it the same formation, 4-2-3-1. On grass there is little difference between the two formations, unless you actually want to keep 2 players forward and get yourself outnumbered in midfield and probably lose by more goals than we did. I'd give Gayle a go at number 10 personally but it might not work and Rafa would have a better idea than me or you in all fairness.
was at work just seen the result ..well are we trying to hoy this away ... reading through the threads its the same two players who just are not good enough week in week out ..that is colback and diame for which i just can not see how he is a pro footballer , another sissoko but worse . ... this slow tempo at home is killing us as well ....get tough for gods sake
The game was lost on our right hand side. Anita and Atsu just did not work, the latter not tracking back (at one point Ritchie ran across the pitch from the left) and Anita getting caught out too many times. Yedlin gets some stick on this forum but we are a far better, balanced side with him and Ritchie down the right.
Mate we've dropped 19 points at home. That is not negativity, it's just reality. We are gash at home. We can't keep saying it's the other team - the point is the manager should not be getting tactically bested so regularly at home.
