Delighted to see one of our players scoring in international football. Long way to go yet but can both sides of the island of Ireland qualify again for the second tournament in a row? Considering the passion and colour we brought to Euro 2016, it would be great for all of us. I am sure the Russian publicans would love both of us to be there :emoticon-0102-bigsm

    No international breaks here
    Bloody a league
nz only has one professional team and they lost seven first choice players for world cup qualifications
Went to the game last night expecting Wellington to be smashed by the Aussie team
Smallest crowd I Have ever seen
Must have been less than 2000 in a 30000 seater stadium
    A anyway we won 5-0
From my vantage point in the corporate area I saw one QPR shirt
We seem to be multiplying in nz

BT Sport show some of the games at whatever ungodly hour of the morning over here. The quality seems to be decent but as you say, the crowds seem to be poor and there is a lack of atmosphere. I watched Melbourne City V Newcastle Jets the other night. Even though Melbourne are Third in the league and they play in a nice stadium right in the heart of the city, there were loads of empty seats. I suppose both codes of rugby are so much more popular in both Oz and NZ???

At the Aviva for Ireland V Iceland. Only 2 or 3 players who started against Wales playing so pretty much a second 11. Ex R Kevin Doyle is starting. After 12 minutes, he has barely touched the ball. Decent crowd here (guess 30k) but loads of kids. Should they not be in bed for school tomorrow?

0-0 half time France v. Spain. But still an entertaining game. Sadly, both streets ahead of England

Canadian under-23 side scores second straight win at Qatar tournament
    The Canadian Press

    March 28, 2017 11:41 AM

DOHA, Qatar — Goals by Jordan Hamilton and Michael Petrasso gave Canada a 2-0 win over host Qatar on Tuesday at the Aspire U-23 soccer tournament.

Canada, with senior coach Octavio Zambrano in charge, finished 2-0-0 at the three-team international competition. The young Canadians opened Saturday with a 1-0 victory over Uzbekistan on a goal by Caniggia Elva.

Zambrano said the two matches had given him a good sense of the young talent.

"It is encouraging that there is a handful of them that get to a higher level and high enough to be with the first team," he said in a statement.

Elva played provider Tuesday in the first half, sliding a pass over to Hamilton. The 21-year-old Toronto FC forward stroked the ball home with his left foot.

Petrasso added to the lead with a sweet goal in the 65th minute, controlling a long free kick from New York City FC rookie midfielder Kwame Awuah with his right foot and then using his left to chip the goalkeeper.

"I just kind of made eye contact with Kwame and he played me in," said Petrasso, a 21-year-old forward with England's Queens Park Rangers.

Zambrano will hold a camp for the senior team ahead of a June 13 friendly against Curacao in Montreal prior to the Gold Cup.

"It is going to be interesting to see which players from both North America and Europe that we can put together to make a solid group," he said. "We may also invite a couple of players from this group...We need to start integrating them into the men's national team that, possibly in five years, could be back here for Qatar 2022 (World Cup)."

I'm all for embracing foreign language in the correct place but just went to the BBC for an update on the Liv v Eve game and got this:-

Fuera de juego, Everton. Mason Holgate intentó un pase en profundidad pero Dominic Calvert-Lewin estaba en posición de fuera de juego.

    Goal!
