Bradlysdad are you saying young Marvin is having a sulk!!! that will be why he hasnt figured as much then as MM wont tolerate that at all ,shame!
Sordell was out of sorts on the left and maybe was saving himself for a full game Monday - maybe Buckly will be back. Eustace was a stand out and Mingoia was pretty impressive as was Loach. Felt a bit sorry for the Barnsley fan in the lion suit as it was 25 in the shade...!!!
not sure if it is him having a sulk, it could just be he doesn't know how to play in that position although; I have heard a rumour that he had developed a bit of attitude but you never know how credible things like that are. Buckley I think needs to develop a bit more consistency and or stamina. I read something, possibly in the Observer, about how much running he does in a game and the physical demands on his position which is why he was always getting subbed, he was dead by the 70-75 minute mark.
Thought Loach had a good game yesterday and Mapps was outstanding. And Lee just gets better. Agree about Sordell. I was impressed with Deeney's work rate. Seems to be defending one minute and then up in the opposition's goal mouth the next. I think he will come into his own next season. What do other's think?
Deeney just gets better and better. Whether Hodson plays well or badly, it's always worth remembering that this is his first full season out of the academy. How many players of his age, even at big clubs, have played full international football, scored a league goal at a stadium as big as Elland Road, been a first team regular, played several games out of position, and (ultimately successfully) played their way through a run of poor form?
Excellent point about Hodson NNW! sometimes we forget we still have a much younger squad than most other teams!
I think we could still do with a competent left back though. Then I'd say Hodson would be good competition for Doyley, perhaps even start ahead of him.
Shall I bait him by saying that I think Lloydinho is a competent left back? We need more than competent though. Sadly there is very little chance of us getting Andrew Taylor now that we have taught him how to play in the opponent's half of the pitch.
OK - you are now Manager of Watford - pretend you are Mitch and Doyley plays for some other team - who would go and buy him and how much would you pay?
He is a one club man , he wouldnt want to leave! when he finishes playing ,I am sure he will stay on in another capacity! Watford is too much in his blood as to render your question meaningless!!!
Well, the last time a Watford manager had money to spend, we ended up with mostly terrible, highly paid players. Only sheer luck and taking on an eight figure debt prevented us from going into administration. The time before that, we ended up with a load of mostly terrible, highly paid players. Only sheer luck and the sale of the stadium prevented us going into administration. That flaw in the question to one side, it would very much depend what I wanted my full backs to do. If I had decent wingers and wanted a good, old fashioned right back who could fill in on the left if we suffered an injury crisis, I'd pay a few hundred thousand for someone like Doyley. If I wanted a poor man's Ashley Cole, I'd obviously avoid Doyley like the plague.
