Suprised he hasn't mention Bowyer. From the stories i'd heard, Bowyer was the more likely of any of the three to sign, although even Kewell is being linked now, so that just shows how much bollocks the papers talk.

Morning LIW. Press speculation was such recently that the club had little choice but to comment. After yesterday, let's just hope we have some good news today on transfers in.

What rubbish boggers, the club policy is meant to be no comment until deal done.

And what speculation abit in the papers.

Explain why the club had to comment !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its easy just say we will comment when deal done

I'm uncomfortable with it too after the very forceful fuss Bates made about always keeping silent on speculation. With Schmeichel, I guess it's different because we're looking for other bidders, though it would make more sense just to contact potential suitors directly rather than publicizing it. I assume the ex-player links are to try and bring the fans round to the idea of accepting players back at Elland Road who screwed us over when we were on our knees.

There's every chance he's using the seculation as smokescreen for other signings though. We know we're not going to offer much in terms of wages and transfer fees, so if we make an offer and another club follows suit, the likelihood is we'll be gazzumped.
