    Aye. Grand national day.

No Mags allowed for safety reasons.

    Big dumb animals running around.

    Scally thieves galore.

    And horses.

    Flutter anyone?

Personally I think the Grand National should be banned there are too many horses being destroyed. They didn't ask to take part and the fences are just too big.

I get that view. The counter is if the racing industry didn't exist neither would the horses. Not a good argument, but theyre bred to run and jump. That's why they keep running when the jockey bails out.

Like I said, not a good argument. But they wouldn't have existed otherwise.

There's some right ****ing carthorses run in the National mind.
The best steeplechasers are kept for the Chelteham Festival..
I may well be wrong but I don't think Desert Orchid ever ran the National.
Too valuable to risk. Pity he was a gelding, they could have made a fortune in stud fees.
I remember one Gold Cup. Dessie was odds on & my dad & me both backed Floyd which was second favourite.
Cracking race which went to a photo finish.
Floyd looked like he had his neck at full stretch & just pipped Dessie.
When the result came through they gave it to the grey.

As for the National I quite fancy Pleasant Company.
Good age, cracking stayer, good national hunt horse & a great jockey in Ruby Walsh.
Might have a sly fiver on it. 16/1 atm.

To be fair I know a lad who is a horse wisperer and he spoke to this horse and said you can choose between running in the national or going on crowd control at a Newcastle game. The horse galloped all the way to aintree - its true I tell ya
