How much more difficult can they make it for car drivers? For those local to Hanwell / Greenford borders, the Ruislip Road East was previously a wide road and pleasant to drive down. It used to have a 40mph speed limit and then that was dropped to 30. No complaint about that because speed does kill - especially small people. 'They' have now created a pedestrian / cycle path on the north side of the road that is wider than either of the remaining carriage ways. As I approached Gurnell swimming pool today, there was a bus at the stop on the south side, a car overtaking the bus and me all parallel to each other. A tight squeeze. I do not like it when the council take decisions that appear to defy logic apart from making it more difficult for car drivers. Rant over. Any insights?
I have four in the garage at the moment. Two hybrids, a cyclocross and a mtb. Cycling to work since Sept 16 and reg 30k's to Richmond Park circuit. Planning on a decent road bike over the next year or so. Does that give my rant further weight?!
No, go by bike. (By the way, no only do I not have a garage I've not owned a car for the last 25 years. $600 a month to park here in NY that I just rent a car when needed.) ( By another way we have bike lanes all over the place here but they are ignored and people either just park or double park on them)
Move to rural Ireland Just back from 2 weeks over there and although its just out of peak season the quietness of many roads, including some of the "major" routes is incredible You would need to be prepared to get wet a lot though
