I can knock them for all of that, but virtually giving away tickets to kids is reasonable enough. Them not being able to sell them factors into that decision, I'm sure, but still...
Today's press is full of stories linking 'England's Greatest Goalscorer' and sometime professional Wedding Crasher, Wayne Rooney with The Spammers. It is suggested that he would fit in perfectly at 'The Tax Payers Arena' as neither have had a proper usage since 2012. Short-arsed pornographer and Director in charge of recruitment, David Sullivan is said to be "very interested " in seeing a Rooney in a West Ham shirt, although, it is alleged more so in relation to Colleen than Wayne. Still, Rooney would be a big name at The Tax Payers Arena, although one wonders why they didn't go for a really big name....like Schweinstiger who, despite being unable to run or play football, is likely to make more appearances per season than Andy Carroll.
I'm going to guess the food in China is a drastic improvement on what they have at Westfield Stratford...
Oh joy, Karrunt Brady is using her Sun column to try and score points against other London clubs again... It’s a fact that many of the better national sides are structured around one club. Of the 16 players used (in Gareth Southgate's squad), counting those with past and present connections, Spurs have four and Saints five. They have productive academies chiefly made up of English lads and while Southampton have had to sell several of their outstanding players, Tottenham are rich enough to hang on to theirs. A final thought, though: Very recently, Arsenal were in a similar position. Last night, no Gunner made it on to the pitch. I'm trying to work out which is funnier: having her kiss our backsides in the national press after years of using that same column to smear us - or the fact she's having to use some convoluted logic to avoid admitting the obvious fact that not one West Scam player was in the squad either!
Or just make the 'rich enough' comment to further help the Spammers appear as the poor victims just trying to make a dime - by royally ripping off the UK taxpayer and the local authority!!
Ok, she's totally lost me this time. What's her point? Southampton have had to sell several of their academy products? And? They also bought Bertrand and Redmond. They weren't brought through. Clyne, who was on the bench, came through both and ended up somewhere else completely.
I think you need to read the first line. What she is saying is that aren't really enough clubs that have a core of good English players, players that know each other well and can bring that to the national team. Others like Germany and Spain have.
Doesn't the first line contradict that, though? She's saying that their national teams are centred around one side, not many. I don't know which sides she thinks they are though, to be honest.
Nope, she then went on to mention the England squad contained a few Spurs and Southampton players as a good thing. The more players in the squad from one or two clubs the better, they already know each others game and link better together than 9 or 10 from separate clubs.
Spain's recent successes supports this theory. Get a core of players together from 2 sides and keep them together for multiple tournaments, then watch the trophies flow in. I have no doubt that a major factor in their demise is that many of Madrid and Barca's key players are no longer Spanish (Bale, Neymar, Suarez, Rakitic, Kroos, Modric, Turan, Rafinha etc.). Although Germany and France surely disprove this theory? They must have players all over the world.
Not sure if that disproves or reinforces the theory, I am not sure France or Germany are quite as good as they have been in the past.
She said one club though, not a few. She then goes on to talk about sides with connections to players, not necessarily players playing for those clubs. Having players that are familiar with each other and used to a single style of play probably does help. England tend to avoid doing that though, for some reason. Not selecting Arsenal's all English defensive unit during the Graham era and Wenger early years is one big example.
Oh Moonface, you can but dream that the Spurs club / academy will no longer be acquiring / producing talent in numbers to fill the England senior side.
There's something else about her quote that needs bringing up: she blatantly lied about the number of players in the England squad with past and present Spurs connections, as I'll now demonstrate... 1.) Kyle Walker 2.) Eric Dier 3.) Dele Alli 4.) Jake Livermore 5.) Jermain Defoe
On the day where we guarantee yet another season of finishing ahead of the Spammers, what does Karrunt Brady have to say about how her team are faring? Meanwhile, vice-chairman Karren Brady has responded to rumours about West Ham manager Slaven Bilic's future, saying "we rate him, so we are planning to keep him". and telling his critics to "shut up". Didn't she say something similar about Dmitri Payet earlier this season?
