Although not really pertaining specifically to TV, but Michael Caine is one of our family favourites. I'm not too sure how much he's got left in the tank. ( Didn't he blow 'The Doors' off or something? )

Though of a slightly later generation I think Michael Barrymore is the last of the old style variety entertainers, one reason I won't be too sad to see the tradition die out. Though Peter Kay gives it a go live, or so I'm told.

Sean Connery along with Michael Caine.

Rather than Barrington, there's Brian Conley, who's one of those throwback all-rounders.

(forgot to add Cilla to that list of recently departed Saturday nighters)

You're a big man, but you're in bad shape. With me it's a full time job. Now behave yourself!

Sir Colin Meads: All Blacks legend dies of cancer, aged 81

A statue of Sir Colin Meads was unveiled in his home town of Te Kuiti in June 2017
All Blacks great Sir Colin Meads, who was named New Zealand's best rugby player of the 20th Century, has died of pancreatic cancer, aged 81.
The former second row played 55 Tests within 133 games for the All Blacks between 1957 and 1971.
He was diagnosed with cancer in 2016 and his wife Verna had told local media on Saturday that he was seriously ill.
"This is a sad day for New Zealand rugby and for New Zealand," said the country's Prime Minister Bill English.
"I have had the privilege of getting to know Sir Colin. He was not only a great All Black but also a genuinely good New Zealand bloke.
"He represented what it means to be a New Zealander. He was no-nonsense, reliable, hardworking, warm and very generous with his time."

Statue should be holding a pint of beer - Meads
Meads, nicknamed Pinetree, was knighted in 2009 as recognition of his achievements as a rugby player with the All Blacks and for his charitable work. He was given a statue in his home town, Te Kuiti, in June 2017.
"I remember when I was younger hearing stories about how he used to shear sheep all day and go running at night," English added.
"I thought I'd give it a go. I quickly learned the Meads legend was built on physical and mental toughness.
"My thoughts are with Sir Colin's wife Lady Verna, and his family and friends at this time."

Before even my time, but ask Ken Catchpole how great Meads was. And look it up yourself :emoticon-0105-wink:

In his after match interview, Olly said that Lua Lua's dad died on Friday - credit to him that he played yesterday - not surprising that he didn't have the best game in the circumstances - a gutsy thing to do.

Genius, the most subversive, ironic, intelligent band ever.

Fun facts: Chevy Chase was the drummer in an early version of the band.

They were named after a giant dildo featured in William Burroughs' junkie novel The Naked Lunch. I liked them before I knew this, as soon as I discovered it I loved them.
