He needs to work three weeks in the children's hospital till we're even. That goal doesn't scratch the surface.
It's is 100% about expectations from Saints fans. That why it feels so different. And in a way, everyone is perfectly entitled to feel disappointed that it is only 8th. By the end of the 2013/14 season we'd achieved 8th with 56 points, and major momentum being carried forward. So great was it that the heart of the team was ripped out, replaced, and Saints beat the position the next season. Fast forward to now and today feels like the momentum has gone. It feels like we've peaked and started to fall back, even though it has arguably been as good if not a better season, all-round, than previous ones. As I've said before, people can talk about rather having good cup runs, but if it damages league form, then the majority get pissed off, and maybe they are right, because it is far and away the most representative symbol of a club's progress. Saints progress in recent seasons has produced this dull thud. Maybe that's the best thing that can be said. We're not happy to be mediocre any more.
Sorry but that is absolute nonsense. Anyone disappointed with 8th and a cup final is supporting the wrong club to be blunt.
