Use this thread to share your music.....

I will start with a track that I haven't heard for ages but have recently rediscovered from my old music collection. It sounds better with a joint but hey you can't have everything!

LA Woman by The Doors 1971...

Awesome song Jim Morrison at his very best!

    Now it's your turn....

    Where do I start?
Grew up in the rave era, DJing drum and bass, was into metal for a while before that. Went to Donington Monsters of Rock to see Iron Maiden before they split up. Right after that gig I was doing all-nighters at The Sanctuary in Milton Keynes and Dance Paradise in Yarmouth in a typical teen 'metal one day, raver the next' transformation.
Listen to a lot of reggae now, everything from early Marley and Peter Tosh to straight up dancehall and toasting. Still DJ when I have time.
I listen to old school hip hop, classic rock, jazz. I can find something in most genres I like or could find a sample from to use.

Wow some pretty good stuff SD <ok>

I'm just going to have a good old rummage around and will post some stuff later.

I'm more of a Soul and Funk man myself but to be honest my musical tastes are hugely varied I guess like most peoples. This would be a good thread to Sticky once we get it off the ground.

A wee bit old Skool but this takes me back to my clubbing days when I was living in Cambridge in the early 90s! I used to go to the Junction which was banging!

Love soul and funk big time too. If you're really into old school hip hop then you're into the roots of where it came from too, where the beats originated and the classics that were sampled by the DJ's in New York of the late seventies and eighties.
You really shouldn't get me started on music mate, it's a huge passion of mine and something I can talk about all day :1980_boogie_down:

    Here's one for you JWM.
I went to see Rose Royce, Odyssey and The Real Thing in Lowestoft in the late nineties. Me and a mate got dressed up pimp style and were in the second row. I had my great grandad's black ebony cane swinging about, top laughs <laugh>

He The Man <ok> Nothing beats Luther IMO

I had the sheer privilege of seeing Luther perform live many many times both in the States and when he was on tour over here. The guy is a Soul legend.

You didn't happen to go to Dreamscape 11 did you?
The Sanctuary was a ****in' hot box man, I'm surprised more people didn't die there.
Never went to Milwaukee's. Hit Clacton a few times though.

That mix right there was just before I started playing tunes. I was buying these 12"s up from Red Eye in Ipswich, well before drum and bass had really emerged as it's own sound and happy hardcore really took off as something seperate.

No SD, i was going before then in the Helter Skelter days, by the mid 90's we were all back into the big illegals like the Exodus Collective would put on around Luton and Dunstable, had some very cool nights at them too.

I used to buy a lot of my 12s from Andy's Records on Bury Market... God whatever happened to them!

Cambridge had some really great independent music shops but I guess they're all gone now.

Yeah, did a few illegals myself. Tunstall forest, Thetford. A friend of mine used to hit Exodus all the time. Can't remember if I ever went though, you know how it is <ok>

Fook me Boys you are far too hardcore for me! <yikes>

I just remember going up to Addenbrookes Discos and getting off with the young Student nurses and back to their digs to smoke a bit of blow listening to the Isley Brothers and throwing up on their carpet. Ah happy days! <laugh>

I can remember my first Exodus, a friend of mine knew some of the Exodus inner circle and I was invited to go with the sound system and set up crew...we left Luton early Saturday evening with other vehicles travelling in other directions to decoy the OB who knew it was an Exodus night. We slipped the OB, arrived at the chosen warehouse, bolt croppers were employed, alarms disabled, they were in within 5 minutes...sound system set up, texts and phone calls made, by the time the OB turned up there was a full on party going<laugh>

At 8am the next morning I was complimenting the Exodus lot on the amazing lazer show that they had put on...

Except of course, there had been no lazer show...<laugh>
