I've never banned you, Smithy. Deleted the odd comment now and then, though.

Ivanka's doing the same thing that the other Trump kids are: Representing their father's business interests.
She's been doing it for quite some time now, so I wouldn't write her off as some background bimbo.
I'm sure that we'll come to find out that she's in it up to her neck with the rest of them.

No insulting or abusing other forum users that are eligible to post on the Spurs board, please. <ok>
Don't quote such comments either or they'll go in the bin with the originals.
Every time I don't come on...

Over 26,000 assaults in prison last year, including around one third on staff.
Over 40,000 incidents of self harm.
Another sad indictment of this government.
Even if you have no qualms about treating prisoners inhumanely, you can't believe that this is acceptable for staff or that sending prisoners back into society on release with serious mental health issues and/or a tendency towards violence (which they might not have had when they went in) is a good idea for anyone.
We lock up too many people. Many are imprisoned for petty offences like shoplifting because they are persistent offenders. Many are drug dependent and/or have mental health issues. The perception that most prisoner fall into stereotypical groups such as sophisticated career criminals or dangerous psychopaths is a fallacy. A large proportion are in and out for minor crimes. How many get any form of rehabilitation in such a toxic environment of violence and drugs, locked in a cell for most hours of every day?
The result of more regressive policies borrowed from the 18th or 19th centuries.

I saw a headline reading "Grenfell Tower to be covered up" and thought it was another comment from renowned fire safety expert Lily Allen...

The US military blows $41.6 million a year on Viagra for its troops — about five times more than the estimated medical costs for transgender servicepeople, according to a new report.
A study published last year by the Rand Corp. and commissioned by the Defense Department estimated that treatments for transgender troops would run the military between $2.4 million and $8.4 million annually, the Washington Post reported.

    https://www.google.co.uk/amp/nypost...millions-a-year-on-viagra-for-its-troops/amp/

So if transgender people are to be banned on the grounds of medical cost then I guess we can expect an announcement that those who need Viagra are to be banned on the the same grounds. Would have made more sense to ban them first thoughconsidering the extra $32-38m that would be saved.

  6. Apart from the euphemistic connotations of that phrase, I wish I could still find the recipients to make that level of investment in any way worthwhile <wah>

Why would American service men want Viagra anyway.Do they all enlist at age 70 or something?

So Kensington and Chelsea Council and their property management company are being investigated for corporate manslaughter and charges might be brought re the Grenfell Tower fire.
What a whitewash! An organisation can't be punished except through being fined, if convicted.
What good does fining a cash strapped Council do? It probably can't pay and if it is forced to pay, will the cost effectively be passed on to its Council tax payers to meet the deficit in its funds - which will include some of the victims and their families?!?!
It's pointless. Stop the investigation now and put the money saved in police, court, legal and other costs into a fund for the victims. Then some amount of good gets done.

Agreed, partly. But I think a conviction for Corporate manslaughter may involve more than a fine for the major culprits.

On the plus side, people have stopped trying to spread the lie that the area's recently elected Labour MP Emma Dent Coad was on the TMO's board so she's personally responsible for every single death in the fire - as they're too busy spreading the lie about Jeremy Corbyn saying he'd wipe out all student debt that's been parroted ever since Guido Fawkes made it up three weeks ago.

Not for corporate manslaughter. Fining the organisation is the only penalty.
They could charge individuals with other manslaughter offences, but there's been no mention of that.

If they go down that road, I would expect to see individuals charged, yes. If they have enough evidence, i reckon they'll go after them.
They need a sacrifice to try and appease public anger. Unfortunately for those charged they'll be in for a very rough ride!

Locking people in cages to make them better would be laughable if it weren't tragic.

The only reason the sorry affair has lasted this long is due to a combination of an American snake oil salesman offering a miracle cure (of a drug he just so happens to have a sizable stake in...) and The Sun deciding to make the story their summer crusade (because their crusade between May-June worked out so well, didn't it?)
