Watched Child 44 last night, not a bad film. Pretend Russian accents talking in English was a bit odd.
A crap band who came out when music was at an all time low. 90's was probably the worst decade for music in all of history.
No. 80s was worse. 90s in UK maybe but the US had nirvana rem etc etc. Old fellas always say the music of succeeding decades is muck. Also.... Nothing tops the xfactor era for appalling rubbish
I was a teen in most of the 90's that should have been my music decade. It was full of people singing in breathy voices that made everyone sound like they had run a marathon before singing. Every decade has had its bad music. 80's was definitely a cheesey decade. The 00's is when all the warbling started... Too much warbly screaming. The current decade is most incoherent. I've no idea what words are being sung in most songs, it's almost like the less you annunciate the more popular the song. Overall though, I do think 90s were the worst. Nothing creative, not much variety and almost every singer was bad. 80's was cheesy, too much rhythm machine and electronic noise, but I think it beats out the 90's on creativity and variety.
Oasis were exactly how bands were/are meant to be. None of this manufactured bullshit you see nowadays. None of them were standout artists in what they did but they worked well together. And they wrote their own material!!!
The best decades in music easy. The first 2 Oasis albums were brilliant. Not technically but of an attitude that meant something at the time. The British indie scene was fun and it produced some great bands Charlatans, Stone Roses. Add onto that the emergence of the Seattle bands and a great club scene with the likes of Underworld and The Chemical Brothers and it's one hell of a great music scene. It was a time of great first albums add onto that the rave scene in full force and by **** I had a great time.
Agree completely music was a changing and we were once again seeing REAL bands instead of just drum kit synthesized ****e (although I accept that was still there). Supergrass and Ocean Colour Scene Not too snobby to mention Happy Mondays (a tad early perhaps) Pulp, REM and Blur either.
Watched arrival today. Thought it was ****. Though may have fallen asleep an missed something vital. Though was ****. Just about to start watching split.
No no no no no. That's such an oversimplification and if you limit your listening to such platitudes I pity you guys, I really do 80s, 90s, hell every decade has amazing music if you look past the ****, which every decade also has. There's no way you can say either of those decades particularly though were **** for music, both have tonnes and tonnes of brilliant bands, artists, groups etc etc.
What I will say about Oasis is the songs that hit the charts and made them weren't they greatest stuff. I can't stand Wonderwall for example! But 90% of the stuff they released was the dogs ****ing bollocks. And not only did Noel write all their material, he wrote crackers in ten minutes whilst the tray of the band ate a Chinese!!! The man is a living legend.
I'm not a huge Oasis fan but the first two albums have their place and it was great that in Supersonic the band look back on their time and realise that, there's no mention of the crap they did after that. I thought was brilliant and it made the documentary brilliant.
I mean jesus don't even mention the utter travesties and dirges (not even in a good way, dirge can be good) they released after those two - totally overrated but decent in comparison to their own low standards and musical abilities - albums
Here's a 90s song that's held up well that I bet nobody around at the time thought it would. ****ing shocking spew inducing video though. Wonder if she's still fit And yeh. I know. There's a thread for this sheeeeeit. Suck it
