****ing outstanding, mate. Keaton deserved an Qscar as well. Norton excellent and the girl who played the daughter. The unit didn't get it
It's a great film. I enjoyed Green Room but think it's a bit overhyped. Selma is another good one on the list I posted. The Young Offenders, if you want a laugh.
Watched she ls out of my league? Its okay for humour although erlich bachmann from silicon valley is always hilarious. Also alice eve is very fit. 6/10 Just watched the damned united. Pretty decent film except some of it wasnt true which put a bit if a downer in it. 7.5/10
Watched Alien: Covenant Very good film that's nowhere near the original films in terms of mood, feel, creepiness, suspense, or iconography but it works well as modern sci-fi action fare with splashes of gore, alien nasties, explosions and some horror elements. But it's not a scary film. If this is what you want from the franchise you'll be disappointed. I enjoyed it overall but this and Prometheus I think need to be viewed as separate but sideways related films to the originals. They are very much modern action films on a large scale for a large commercial audience, whereas the originals took more stylistic risks drawn from more niche areas of cinema and used a less is more approach to build that insidious sense of fear. These new films are far removed from those. If you love the original films I can see why you won't enjoy this. In a way the franchise has created and become a victim to its own cliches. The characters are thinly drawn in Covenant. For example I didn't really care what happened to the two left for the final battle back on the spaceship up in space as the film doesn't make you invest in them in any particular way. The other characters are the same, unlikeable obvious forgettable canon fodder purely making up numbers during the expedition. The film doesn't care about these people so why should the viewer? They're simply vessels to allow the more interesting main part of the plot which revolves around the androids to take place. This isn't without ridiculous cod-philosophy and futuristic religious-scientific hokum. I saw the Walter/David twist towards the end coming a mile off, as soon as it happened in fact. And actually there is a moment on top of the ship they are trying to get back into space off the planet, after the first alien is destroyed, where they actually signal what has happened. However the film looks great, the story is interesting and engaging in many parts, the action is fun and extravagant (NB not seat clenching scary and tense anymore, some will have problems with this) and I agree with Rhc that Fender is v. good as the two androids.
****ing hell. I didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition It was better than Prometheus, but nothing will ever beat the first two. The first in particular was ground-breaking and is in my all-time top-ten.Still and excellent effort and well worth the entry price
I saw Alien last Tuesday, thoroughly enjoyed it, Fassbender was excellent like RHC and Red had already mentioned. Thought it was loads better than Prometheus but still doesn't beat the first Alien. Felt stupid for not realising the Walter/David thing right until the end!!
You ****ing stupid idiot It was clear as day, go back and watch it when he's on top of the ship after the woman has crushed the alien in the grabber. The wind blows the hood of his jacket up which calls back to how he is hooded when the team meet him down on the planet's surface I liked Prometheus actually which I know is not the cool opinion
