2 goals against an abysmal Ireland and 1 against a 10 man Italy team that had already given up. Possibly the worst golden boot winner ever.
Spain dictated the pace of the game and were in control from the first minute. Italy could'nt live with them.
A disappointing final, hoped for a more competitive game. Spain won't care though, they have won their third major tournament in a row. Can anyone stop them?
Can't see it.. Although, if Argentina can finally build a proper team around Messi, he might be the man to end this winning run Spain have.
Brazil will win the next World Cup in their own backyard. Now that would be a fantastic final, Brazil VS Spain.
Brazil are building a young, competitive team for the 2014 WC, one without the likes of Kaka and the usual, apparently. It does feature Neymar though, and that's a final I would like to see...
Really? Germany's defence was never tested properly and when it was it fell apart. Boateng is not a top level full back, and their 2 CB's are not experienced at this sort of level. The way Italy got through their defence showed that it was more than an off day. There was a real weakness. Spain would have beaten them as well.
It was largely Badstuber's fault, dreadful CB, why he's rated so highly in germany is a mystery to me.
What are you talking about ?? Italy bossed the game for large periods in the first half. After losing Motta they had nothing.
Yes, both goals, but the second one especially, that was so poor, he did not even care to follow Ballotelli. And some German commentator said leaving Martesaker on the bench was the best thing that happened to Germany...
I would say Spain's defense is the best in the world by some margin. They actually reinvented defense. They realized that defense is not just about the back four and starts way higher up the pitch than all other teams think. I hope Arsenal will learn it one day.
What annoys me, now everybody is salivating about how great Spain are, how they are head and shoulders above everybody else, the greatest ever and bla bla bla. And nobody seems to remember that had both Spain and Portugal penalties hit the post and the only difference was that Spain's ball rebounded into the net and Portugal's one rebounded out. We are talking about a couple of inches here. But Spain won and it is all forgotten, they are unbeaten kings. What a strange thing football is...
