Coventry get to Wembley but are bottom of League One. Would they swap a day out at the national stadium for safety though?
The first football match to be played in Aleppo for nearly five years. It's hard to imagine what it would have been like had Syrian bombs been ravaging Watford for that long...
Am currently watching the AFC Champions League qualifier from China - one of the teams that were interested in buying Iggy, Shanghai Shenhua, are playing Brisbane Roar. The presence of Carlos Tevez & Obafemi Martins is not helping them though - Brisbane leading 2-0 at half time. If they are any indication of the club standard in China, Iggy may well regret his move. A full stadium but the crowd is a little 'different' - not a lot of spontaneous atmosphere...
I wish I could speak Chinese - the locals were chanting something at their manager Gus Poyet after Brisbane won the game. All I could make out was the word 'Poyet' - but the expressions on their faces are anything but inscrutable.
Despite making a huge profit, Man Utd have seen their debt to the American owners increase by £87 million pounds, all due to the collapse in the £-$ exchange rate. I wonder what implications the £-€ exchange rate has for us.
http://www.xe.com/currencycharts/?from=USD&to=GBP&view=1Y is a good page to show the exchange rates over time...Us as Watford or British?
Rangers say Mark Warburton has resigned as manager. Warburton categorically denies that he has resigned. Is he holding out for a pay day, or what is going on. I am sure our man in the north will know.
The story going around is that he, his assistant David Weir and recruitment manager Frank McParland all asked through their agent on Tuesday for their contracts to be cancelled - Rangers said yes as they were on the verge of sacking them anyway & that would save them around £750K in payouts. He was due to be sacked because third place isn't good enough - although being 27 points behind Celtic & being thrashed 4-1 at Hearts in a spineless performance may have had something to do with it too. The fans were blaming ex Hornet Rob Keirnan for the defeat - and he did have a shocker. There were also questions over the lack of performance from some of his signings - such as Joey Barton and Joe Garner. It also appears that he had one eye on the Nottingham Forest job, but when that went elsewhere his agent went back to Rangers and said they wanted to stay. I don't think anyone really knows what is happening - but if Rangers lose their cup match to Morton this weekend he'll be given the boot. And Morton are playing some pretty damned good football this season...
The original Wembley Stadium on 23rd April 1923, ready for its first match - the FA Cup Final. Can you spot what's missing?
The ref is 50+yards away... and his assistant is assisting him to not see what he's already not seen....
Egypt is a couple of hours ahead of us. Allowing for that, inverting the GMT+2, according to my slide-rule, he's just inside the area. Happy to help.
