Don't let Guru hear that JWM! I had many discussions with him about this and he just couldn't see the wood for the trees bless him.
The writing has been on the wall for a long time Kempy. We sold our top goal scorer to Newcastle just 3 days before the end of the Summer Transfer Window and didn't replace him! Yet we get all this pony about there being adequate funds to spend on the right players! The only way to appease the majority of Town fans is if Evans sells up and I cant see that happening. Maybe Ed Sheeran will stick his hand in his pocket!
Most recently the lad from Forest Green Rovers, if I remember correctly? For the princely sum of £100k! As the article states, though, MM may not have had such rigid constraints to work under if Keane and Jewell hadn't gone berserk and bought expensive tosh prior to his arrival?
All Evans had to do was back MM with some serious wedge 3 years ago when we were sitting in 2nd on Boxing Day! He didn't and the rest is history. We have sold Cresswell, Mings and Murphy for a collective sum of £15 Million in the time that Evans has been here which more than covers what he splashed out in transfer fees when those two idiots were here! We will just about stay up this season but without serious player investment in the Summer we will be relegated. We haven't been out of the top 2 divisions in 58 years but this record is seriously under threat.
This seems to be the latest rumour and have to say if it's true, then it's certainly 'left field!!' - http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2017/03/2...could-move-for-bristol-rovers-boss-darrell-c/
As a good number of fans of other clubs would say - as they did with AN - the cheap option. Hard to argue that POV
Absolutely TC and pretty much what MOST NCFC would expect, but HOPED that we would go for someone with considerably more experience. #sameoldsameold
More like 10K, we aren't that flush! And there in lies the problem, though our net spend has always been low due to sales of Wickham, Walters, Cresswell etc. but fingers were burnt after the Keane tenure for sure.
I'll be incredibly disappointed if you end up with Clarke.. He is certainly a manager on the up and has acquitted himself very well in his short managerial career. I had sort have hoped that he'd be on our shortlist if/when we are looking for a new gaffer.. Plus his assistant manager is ITFC Legend Marcus Stewart Understandably you're looking/hoping for a more marquee signing given the circles you've been in, but think Clarke will be a decent prospect for any championship club
Interesting comment from an article in today's Mirror which I'm sure most of us realise - " MirrorSport understands 30% of the club’s wage bill is currently collected by players not featuring regularly. #shocking Whoever takes charge will be told to conduct a big overhaul at the Championship outfit with nine players out of contract." Big-earners heading for the exit include Sebastien Bassong, Youssouf Mulumbu, Kyle Lafferty and Michael Turner, whose deals are all up. Steven Whittaker, Ryan Bennett and ex-England keeper John Ruddy also face uncertain futures with their contracts up. Would we really miss any of those listed???? At this rate I might soon start a thread with the title "How long do we give them to bring in a new manager!"
Mulumbu and Bennett I would miss. After we make the clear out this summer, it's going to take some serious money to bring in good replacements. Any thoughts on how much the board will be willing to spend? And how much they would be willing to pay a new head coach? The NCFC HC job would be quite appealing, I would think, for potential coaches. What with the clear out and opportunity to bring in new players (not to mention a good crop of youngsters eager to play). A phone call to Roger Schmidt, -ex of Leverkusen, wouldn't be out of line. All he could do is say "no."
Yes, Bennett as cover, but not sure about JR. IMO, some of our 'youf' are ready to step up to the plate and yes they'll make mistakes, but will they be as devastating as some of those made by Martin and Bassong??? RB – Ramsay CB – Efete/Crowe LB – Lewis/Toffolo DFM – Thompson/Godfrey AM – Maddison/Grant/Jaiyesimi/Cantwell (Middleton as back up) Striker - Morris From that I think we need a GK and I'm not sure if we have another proven striker, but I'm assuming Basil will stay and assuming Pinto also stays, we just need cover for a few positions. Pity ILD no longer posts, as he would back me up on promoting our 'youf' players!!!
Most of those youth players lack any experience at the senior level. We don't know what to expect from them except to say some will make it and some won't be ready next season. Lord knows now would be a good time to test them at this level (I gave up hope of making the playoffs after Bristol).
E] TOTALLY agree CS, but I can't see AI doing it, so the sooner our 'new structure' is complete, the better!!!!
Balls should have told Irvine to play in the youth. It seems we still have designs on the playoffs. First we have to bring the new SD, then 2-4 weeks, I think, for him to find the right coach. I'll be surprised if it happens faster than that.
